Face of the Day

According to author Kevin Dutton, psychopaths have a distinct set of personality characteristics. Pictured is Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates in Psycho.

His book looks very interesting and the personality test is fascinating.

Andrew Sullivan blogs on some aspects of it.

Apparently I have the following scores:

Neuroticism: High
Extraversion: Low
Openness to Experience: Low
Agreeableness: Very Low
Conscientiousness: Low
Persuasiveness: Very High

Kevin Dutton is an interesting read. Your average CEO would probably be a psychopath.

Yes it is a fascinating test, albeit i’m not a big fan of those in the psychology profession – anyone who thinks they know what goes on in my head must be nuts lol

  • GregM

I’m too psycho to do the test, sorry.

    • Lion_ess

Go on Greg, you can do no worse than getting very high or very low in the wrong places):

Here is a test that went around on email some years ago. Good for a laugh to see if you think like a psycho. (My husband answered it pretty much straight away – that’s a worry :).

      “Are YOU a Psychopath?

This is a story about a girl.

While at the funeral of her own mother, she met a guy whom she did not
know. She thought this guy was amazing, so much the dream guy that she was
searching for that she fell in love with him immediately.

However, she never asked for his name or number and afterward could not
find anyone who knew who he was.

A few days later the girl killed her own sister.

Question: Why did she kill her sister?

First, find your own answer to this question.

Then, check out below for the answer.

Answer: She reasoned that if the guy appeared at her mother’s funeral,
then he might appear another family funeral.

If you answered this correctly, you think like a psychopath. This was a
test by a famous American psychologist used to test if one has the same
mentality as a killer. Many arrested serial killers took part in this test and
      answered correctly. “

  • disqus_9bVgD6HIiq

There was no question to answer at the end!!

  • Vlad

This will probably undermine the persuasiveness of my usual comments on WO’s blog, but I hit the answers intuitively and it came out:

    Neuroticism: Very high
    Extraversion: Low
Open to new ideas: Very high
    Agreeable: Low
    Conscientious: Low
    Persuasiveness: Very high

Can’t argue with that, much as I would like to……

  • Vlad

The interesting result from this assortment of results is that just about everybody comes out (self-assessed) as “High” or “Very high” on persuasiveness. Kind of expected, as otherwise why would you post strongly expressed opinions on a blog if you didn’t think you could persuade others to your point of view?
