Saudi government now monitoring whereabouts of women

The Saudi government is now rolling out full electronic surveillance of women where the system sends a txt message to the husband if a woman tries to leave the country. This is seriously creepy.

The husband, who was travelling with his wife, received a text message from the immigration authorities informing him that his wife had left the international airport in Riyadh.

“The authorities are using technology to monitor women,” said columnist Badriya al-Bishr, who criticised the “state of slavery under which women are held” in the ultra-conservative kingdom.

Women are not allowed to leave the kingdom without permission from their male guardian, who must give his consent by signing what is known as the “yellow sheet” at the airport or border.

The move by the Saudi authorities was swiftly condemned on social network Twitter — a rare bubble of freedom for millions in the kingdom — with critics mocking the decision.

“Hello Taliban, herewith some tips from the Saudi e-government!” read one post.

“Why don’t you cuff your women with tracking ankle bracelets too?” wrote Israa.

send the marines in to introduce correctional training, democracy, and freedom….oh hang on …they’re Americas reliable, stable allies in the region…..and they have an awful lot of oil!

  • Mediaan

It’s their culture. It has worked for them for many centuries.

We should get our own culture right before criticising theirs.

I have travelled a fair bit, maybe seven months total, in the Middle East. Moslem society runs pretty well, in its way. In Arab countries anyway. Moslem Arab men in general strive to tell the truth and deal with money honestly.

Praying five times a day towards Mecca obviously reminds them that, as men, they are moral leaders. They are top people, at least in their own families, of whom responsible attitudes are expected. (The semi-prostrate position would be good for their bodily health too, as would avoiding alcohol.)

That’s the real Moslem men, not the maliciously-modified ones as in Finsbury Park London.

I know Saudi can be a corrupt sick dump, (thanks, rotten corrupt oil companies), but in general the rule of Islam is a peaceful constructive one that works.

I’m assuming you’re taking the piss.

Their culture has worked for them for many centuries. Yeah right, if you’re a male

        Agreed!

The thugs like the Taliban are the *true* Muslims – they follow the Koran to the letter.

The reason that there are a lot of so-called “peaceful Muslims” is that –

        a) Many of them don’t actually *know* the requirements of their religion (this is extremely common – much more than you’d believe)

        b) If they *do* know what their religion requires (killing infidels – i.e. us) , many of them (fortunately) can’t be bothered carrying out those requirements. They are very selective – they pick and choose which bits of the Koran to follow. This actually makes them not true Muslims at all.

For very good info on Islam, I recommend these sites –

        http://www.islam-watch.org/IW/aboutus.htm – another apostates site.

Thanks for offering all the sites. I’m not going there, because they are sickening, but I appreciate your care with your back-up. I have seen some similar. I prefer my own impressions, and I’ve collected a few.

You prefer homeopathy to evidence based medicine to I assume.

      • Mediaan

Oh god, here we go. Did you slip out from some human rights meeting, dear? Better pop back.

“… in general the rule of Islam is a peaceful constructive one that works.”
      I beg to differ.
If you Google “apostates of Islam”, you’ll find the apostatesofislam.com website.
There, you’ll see first-hand accounts by former Muslims as to how bad Islam truly is.
So, you needn’t take my word for it – you can take theirs instead.
You can also take the word of the Thais in southern Thailand who are fighting off an Islamic insurgency there.
If Islam really “worked”, islamic countries wouldn’t be the hellholes that they all are (apart from the “artificially-boosted-by-oil-riches” Arabia and Gulf states).

I confined my remarks to Arab countries. These are, broadly, Egypt plus the countries to the East of it.

Malaysia is a special case. There was a lot of shouting at the tv news in my house when it was decided to allow Malay medics to go to Afghanistan and, not only that, be billeted with the kiwi personnel there. “You’ll regret that, they will use new medical-military techniques that undermine our kiwi people,” was the broad tenor of my remarks.

What are you on about? Or on?

    • Mike

This guy is living in laa laa land! “Moslem society runs pretty well” Then how come almost all moslem countries are poverty stricken, war torn hellholes with horrendous records of human rights abuse?

The only ones that aren’t are the ones where they can dig money straight out of the ground beneath them in the form of oil.

      • jaundiced

Which would include Saudi Arabia. Wouldn’t say their human rights record is top of the list.

      • thor42

        Spot-on, Mike! Agreed!

Arab spring, Gaza terrorist rockets, school girls getting shot in the head, lynch mobs dragging ‘suspected’ spies through the streets.
Muslim culture has long since abandoned the sophistication of the Persian empire in favour of bronze age barbarism superficially disguised by petro-dollars.

Had there been another decade of the feminazi rule in NZ the men would have been the ones monitored.

The real danger of Islam is not terrorism. It is the gradual subversion and undermining of Western countries from within. Muslims *are* trying to do this and are very open about it.
Look at Belgium. Brussels and the area around it is already 25% Muslim.
Hands up, all those who’d like to see that here. No-one? Thought not.
Look at Malmo, Sweden and how “wonderful” the large population of Muslims there is.
All of this is why groups like “Generation Identitaire” in France are being created – to SAVE what is left of Western culture.
It’s things like the introduction of Islamic prayers in schools (Ontario, Canada). The introduction of “prayer rooms” in government buildings. The introduction of (and **whitewashing** of) “Islamic studies” in school curricula. Then, the banning of criticism of religion (as I understand Ireland has already done. They may have been aimig at Christianity, but it would include Islam too.)

On and on it goes. It is the old tale of the “camel and the tent”, the camel slowly easing himself inside his owner’s tent until he finally gets fully inside and says “get out of MY tent”.

    • Mediaan

All those problems are caused by immigration policies of the countries named, or degree of strength of border controls.

      They chose it.

There was a man called Sir Gerald Nabarro trying desperately to wake Britain up to the danger of suddenly allowing huge numbers of very different cultural groups into Britain. At that time, it was Africans, Pakistanis and West Indians mostly. He was ignored and derided. Britain went on to join the EC, and opened the doors to dozens of other stranger communities.

Where was Britain as people were used to it? Not there any more.

The point about democracy is, the mass of people choose this stuff.

For those bitching abot the Muslim religion (I am no supporter) then you need to judge Christianity on the same basis. They can both fuck right off as far as I am concerned.
