Latest Roy Morgan Poll

Shearer just can’t get the numbers to budge:

Today’s New Zealand Roy Morgan Poll shows steady support for Prime Minister John Key’s National Party at 46% (unchanged since mid January). Support for Key’s Coalition partners shows the Maori Party 1.5% (down 0.5%), ACT NZ 0.5% (unchanged) and United Future 0% (down 0.5%).

Support for Labour is 31.5% (unchanged); Greens are 13.5% (up 1.5%), New Zealand First 5.5% (up 0.5%), Mana Party 0.5% (unchanged), Conservative Party of NZ 0.5% (down 1%) and Others 0.5% (unchanged).

If a National Election were held today this NZ Roy Morgan Poll says the result would be too close to call.

            hazzy – I have been gainfully employed since I left school at 16 – now run a business consultancy – that contributes widely to the small business community and pays taxes willingly – volunteer for three local help organisations. See I believe in giving back to our great country that helped raise me, after my mum was widowed young. I want for my kids and future generations the hand up, given to my mum, when life got tough – rather that this lot that happily took for themselves what the state gave, then then slammed the door shut for those following …how about you ?

            It’s easy enough to find the main points of my story on here. But if you want it in a nutshell..had nothing from no one and gave my life start away supporting others. I’m so thrilled for you that life is so great you feel able to give back. So give back whatever you want but get the fuck out of my pockets as I’m still supporting people that can’t support themselves..and that’s pretty much my life story!

            The NZ economy is still very delicate. Any of the Greens or Labour’s policies could do great damage. Your nice, little consultancy could be swept away in the resulting recession.
            And Labour + Greens still doesn’t equal the “right” block. NZ First will swing, as they have before. So don’t think the left is in the ascendant.

            Para I don’t care too much for Mr Shearer – i like politicians with convictions that speak their mind and have the best interest of New Zealand and our home grown businesses at heart. Key has clearly demonstrated time and time again that he sees his role as PM as just a ‘smile and wave’ exercise – whether is be swanning down runways, pandering to his mates in the financial industry or his new found friends in Hollywood – it’s all just a joke to him. It is my privilege to work along side some really innovative business – these people are smart – but with the way this govt governs many are struggling under the mad exchange rate, that Key made his money betting on – and government preferring to line the pockets of their already rich mates. They aren’t asking for much – R&D tax credits at the level offered to the Hobbit, to create real sustained and innovative jobs would be a start !! We have to build an economy that relies on more than white oil and mythical make believe creatures.

            If the idea is sustainable take it to industry and get your investment, if it’s not then tough titty.

            The Hobbit got an incentive to bring investment to NZ. You’re asking for a handout. Totally different thing.

            Be like me going to IRD and saying I have an awesome business plan that will eventually employ lots of people but I have no money. If you let me pay no tax till I’m showing blah blah profit I’ll start the business. What do you think they will say to me?
            Oh..and anger is the only thing that has kept me going for this long..so I think I’ll keep it…ta!

            iv been to aussie. lived in sydney for 9 years. i decided one day that i was either moving my family back to new zealand or to another part of aussie. i choose home but it would be very easy to scoot back. melbourne next time i think.

    The poll was taken up to Sunday, and Shearer was virtually invisible up to his speech on Sunday so that won’t have impacted the polls. It was unlikely to impact the polls anyway.

    Just goes to show the undemocratic nature of MMP. The intended result is of course perfectly clear: a national majority government with a mandate to end benefits, arm cops, Glock the crims, and wipe out leftism and unionism from NZ once and for all!

      It is blocks you need to be thinking in. National is but one part of the right wing block. And by the looks of it, the left block will govern after the next election.

    Well shit..if I couldn’t make a call so obvious in my job I wouldn’t have one…must be awesome to work for Roy Morgan where the inability to have a position is a perfectly acceptable position!

    With no clear direction from the Nats and no potential coalition partners aside from the Waka jumpers that will instantly leap back to Liarbour to keep snouts firmly planted in trough Key is buggered. He now has less than two years to get some real policy together and show some direction.

    It’s time to clamp down on Union donations and tighten the rules so everyone is playing the same game, ergo no corporate ones either. The MMP review is not finalised…sort some or all of the inequities in the socialist rort especially the Waka Jumping legislation that most of us thought had been sorted years ago after Alamein Kopu only to find out it had expired when we had the same situation with Brendon Horan.

    The reversal of tax grabs by labour via the WFF needs to be reviewed (can’t be acted on as I’ve noted before..to most people a subsidy and bludging only occurs if it’s someone else getting the handout)
    It’s past time for some serious rebuttal of the Red/Green stupidity that is publicised via the MSM and a bit of arse stomping to be done.

    Key and Joyce need to take a look at the sense of frustration building in their core constituents and start formulating a plan to get them back to the fold. NOW!

      There are really only three or four plans that could make any difference now.
      – Glock the cops – along with a legal framework that encourages them to kill crims
      – Terminate the benefit system (including super)
      – Terminate the health system
      – Terminate the education system

      anything else is just pissing around the edges.

      Agree with a lot of why you say however the margin of error which is a function of the sample size of the poll is the reason why it is too close to call

      Simple statistics, anyone making a call on that data would be pure and simply guessing
