Did we domesticate the cat 5,000 years ago
Or
Did the cat domesticate itself into our lives?

Welfare. See first man feed the cat, and that’s when the trouble started. They just come back for more, and even steal

All this cat stuff has gone just a bit too feral hasn’t it?

Oh no! My darling cat does most of these – except the kitty litter (phew I am not to be buried) and she doesn’t sprint out of the room anymore – too old. Think I am safe. Noticed her clawing has increased though…………………….will be keeping a close eye on her from now on. Already this morning I have given in to her stares and opened the door for her – she must use her cat door from now on!

What about dog clues? My choc lab and multi cultural (mongrel) lab do the following:
-drool when they see me ( meals on legs…)
-sniff and lick legs and toes ( taste test?)
-jump up and flatten me to ground when I least expect it
-the rather rotund choc lab runs up at speed…slams on brakes too late and bowls me over (practice for later ‘wipeout’??)
-near removal of digits when delivering last of dinner scraps
-choc lab also snores so loudly I can hear her from her kennels…perhaps testing my hearing ability for later stealth attack! BTW she is only 2 years old
