“This is the way reality REALLY is: we all perceive it differently”
I wonder if that’s just his perception about my perception, or is it really the case?
If I tell you the actual answer, would you understand it the same way I mean it?
Petal…have you met my wife?
Counsel has advised me not to answer that question.
The human brain is an amazing organ. People see “normal” daylight colours in a room lit with flourescent light, when a film camera (i.e. not a digital fitted with automatic white balance”) would record it as being flooded with green.
People see what they want to see. The same can be said of beliefs, politics and philosophy, even political-correctness. The key issue perhaps is to not only recognise the uncontrollable stimuli, but also to intententionally select which information to put into your mind to create a desirable colour-cast. Of course you can also choose which filters to apply to help interpret your environment clearly…. if you see what I mean :-)
Philosophers have been struggling with this for centuries. Politicians have been using it for centuries.
