What is in a name? Banksy, Banky, Banksie, the Herald doesn’t know

My email inbox is bombarded daily by vigilant army readers sending in Herald Bombs from the “decent journalists, trained and skilled“.

I now have to filter them…like this one where their fish identification skills have dramatically failed them.

In order to assit them I have provided a link to the Wiki pages for Snapper and for Kingfish.

It really is becoming an embarrassment. I’ll bet there is now a race on each day to fix the fuck ups before I obtain screen shots. It isn’t working I have more than I can manage…I am now simply picking the worst ones.

Here is one from Sunday…where they mis-spelled the artist’s name. It is Banksy.

To make matters worse they corrected it and still got it wrong:

Banksie

My overriding impression of The Herald is that the staff there simply don’t give a fat rat’s arse for accuracy any more. They’ve just given up and are content to write any old shite that takes their fancy.

Fucken funny stuff haha. Fisher and co will be unhinging.

Does anyone buy this newspaper anymore? If so, why?

    • Pissedoffyouth

Lol of course nobody buys the Herald anymore, the internet makes it free and faster.

Look at APN’s stock price to see what people think of print.

I was going to send via tip line.. but you may as well start a thread each day as “post the Herald stuff ups here”.

Good to know that “”The patient had the right skills [available to be helped], they just weren’t able to be saved.””

AND that the “Winners claim kapa haka titles” as it would be wrong if the losers had claimed it!

Are they getting worse or is it something that has always been there – just never noticed it until it was pointed out – and now you notice all the time..

  • Morrissey

    It’s spelt “SCHNAPPER”. Right, people?

    • Bunswalla

      No, dickhead, it’s spelled snapper

      • http://www.whaleoil.co.nz/ Petal

        woosh

      • Lofty

No Buns it can be spelt as Morrissey has indicated.

        • Bunswalla

What’s the point of attempting to correct something that isn’t wrong in the first place? Schnapper is an obsolete spelling of the fish we all know as snapper. Schnapper looks and sounds wrong, and has been out of date for 40 or 50 years.

    • Lofty

Yes, oh and I don’t think you are a dickhead Morrissey.

      • Bunswalla

Perhaps not, and I apologise for being hasty and nasty. However, he is pedantic in the extreme, and for no purpose.

      • Morrissey

Thank you, Lofty. And Bunswalla: I forgive you.

It`s a new species ,the Snapperking or is it the Kingsnapper?
