    I’m not sure, but I think this is the same guy who brought up his kids in an atheist household. Along with his studies of the brain and religion he got a charge when he once disciplined his young son.. the boy said something like “You can spank me or ground me, but you can’t stop the “me” inside me from thinking what I want”.

    Its that inner “me” which religion (esp the Catholic Church) calls “free will” and the US Declaration of Independence calls “unalienable rights”:

    “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.-”

    It follows that you are a free spirit capable and entitled to think what you will and do what you will, and your neighbour or Govt has no control on this save if you do harm to others.. then they are entitled to control, imprison or kill you.

    If you dont believe in God or follow a Christian/Buddhist religion you are more likely to believe that your inalienable rights flow from your Govt.. which means you are an idiot. But if you are an atheist who believes that no Govt controls your free will then you are a believer in something close to the concept of God, spirituality and/or that inner “me” that cannot be touched by anything on Earth.

    Like it or not, if you believe in free will you are hardwired to something akin to Christianity.

    Faith is an emotion, some people are hardwired to be emotional.
    (It’s a choice people make when young and live by religously)
