Under the Green Thumb

The Green Party is an insignificant force in UK politics, with only one MP in their bloated House of Commons.  But the UK is still crushed under the Green Thumb, partly because of the bureaucratic loons of the EU, and partly because their Government is a coalition of the wettest, weakest, trough-loving Tories in history and their minority partners, the creepy intern-molesting chardonnay-left Liberal Democrats.

And as a result, their economy is stuffed and old people are freezing to death because they can’t pay huge power bills while land-owning Dukes are trousering a fortune in wind-farm subsidies.

This is what the Global Warming scam and its apologists and profiteers have done, even with a Conservative government.

Hopefully, Kiwis are slowly waking up to the scandalous Green Taliban attack on the world and its people.

From The Independent, Monday, March 20, 2000, a story headlined: ‘Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past.’

It quoted Dr David Viner, head of the climate unit at the University of East Anglia, as saying that in future: ‘Children just aren’t going to know what snow is.’

That would be the same Dr David Viner whose department was accused of suppressing the existence of evidence casting doubt on global warming.

Thirteen years ago, the global warming gravy train was only just getting into gear. Since then we’ve lived through a decade of global cooling.

Far from being a thing of the past, snowfalls are still very much with us. This has been the coldest winter in 30 years.

Rather than admit they were wrong, the so-called ‘experts’ simply changed the rules. Out went ‘global warming’, in came ‘climate change’.

The Government’s outgoing chief scientist was yesterday still insisting that the world is heating up.

When confronted with evidence to the contrary, he tried hilariously to argue that the weather we are currently experiencing is being caused by all the carbon we released into the atmosphere 25 years ago.

Yep, the snow which has Britain in its grip this week has been a quarter of a century in the making.

If you believe that, you’ll believe anything. Actually, the global warming, sorry ‘climate change’ head-bangers will believe anything which reinforces their zealotry.

Unshakeable faith in ‘climate change’ is now the official religion of the Met Office, Whitehall, the EU, the UN and the BBC.

We are all paying for this lunacy through our gas and electricity bills, which are inflated by heavy subsidies for inefficient and ludicrously expensive ‘green’ energy sources.

At some point, hopefully soon there is going to be an accounting for the massive fraud that is climate change:

At the weekend we came dangerously close to running out of gas. Yet Britain is sitting on a bottomless well of shale gas just waiting to be exploited. Shale has transformed America and slashed energy bills.

But ministers remain in thrall to the eco-maniacs and the greedy spivs of the ‘green’ energy industry, growing fat by fleecing consumers as an instrument of government policy, which is still being dictated by the deluded, lying fanatics who told us 13 years ago: ‘Snowfalls are a thing of the past.’

And the chance of seeing this article in a NZ paper? zero.

  • Mark D

It’s one of my favourite quotes to recall when they undergo yet another record cold winter in the northern hemisphere. The original article:

    http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/snowfalls-are-now-just-a-thing-of-the-past-724017.html

Of course you need to balance that with the important realisation that notwithstanding the weather I’m sure it’ll all average out to a long term warming trend:

  • Polish Pride

welcome to the year 2013 where it is now more widely referred to as climate change where we can expect patterns of ever increasing weather extremes as opposed to ‘warming’

You know the sought of weather we have had here in NZ that has turned all the farmers into beneficiaries crying out for a welfare handout from the govt. This is of course part of the welfare of the right which most posters on here will be more than happy with.

    • http://www.facebook.com/euan.rosstaylor Euan Ross-Taylor

Welcome to reality. It may now be called ‘climate change’ so that the gullible accept that everytime some storm or dry spell happens, it must be man induced. But the reality is that the man made stuff is the CO2 which is supposed to be causing warming. Take your blinkers off and smell the fresh air PP. The current drought is said to be the worst in 70 years. So was the one before this that was worse also caused by Man? No? When will the next ‘naturally caused’ weather phenomena strike our fair planet. Every disaster is now due to Man induced Global warming, it would seem. I remember seeing a programme about large areas of the USA becoming a dust bowl last century. Imagine if that happened today. Global warming would be the culprit. Whether Man is making any difference, I am not sure of. But I do believe we have far less to do with weather change than most Climate Changers would have us believe.

      • Polish Pride

So stop pointing to cold snaps and saying Ha proof that global warming doesn’t exist. If you want to argue for or against something, use the current terminology set out your arguement with your evidence against it. Or as in this case it will weaken the very argument you are trying to make.
Also whether you want to believe it or not as far as most govts around the world are concerned climate change is happening and they are setting out policy to tackle it accordingly. Unless you seriously think you can change their minds (and you might as well be pissing into the wind) you should direct your efforts on the mechanisms they are wanting to put in place and focus on whether the policy has benefit to our environment eg. tree planting or is simply of little benefit at all (ETS) then ask for things like this, where does the money go. Your money whether via environmental taxes imposed or higher cost of goods and services charged to the consumer to compensate businesses for increased compliance costs and therefore the increased cost of doing business.
and whilst National is in, expect much more welfare in response to such whether patterns each year if they continue and expect more and more businesses (such as farmers with their hand out ready to receive welfare from your tax dollars.

        • http://www.facebook.com/euan.rosstaylor Euan Ross-Taylor

So when Govts were burning ‘witches’, or trading in slaves, I shouldn’t deride their idiocy, just go along with them and rather make sure the hanging was conducted in a humane manner? Is that really your view – we need to comply because lots of other people are?

          • Polish Pride

No Euan in my view you need to choose your battles more wisely and follow the money. Always follow the money. It is easier to divert a stream for your benefit and the benefit of others than it is to reverse its flow…
Unless you seriously think you have a shot at changing the mindset of the govts of the world then go for gold but I don’t like your chances.

          • http://www.facebook.com/euan.rosstaylor Euan Ross-Taylor

I find the proposal of using ‘ill gotten gains’ to profit myself and others unpalatable. I prefer to be a voice who attacks the ‘lies’ being promulgated by ‘Climate Scientists’ who say ‘wise’ words which nature quickly points out as outrageous – and ‘Global Warming’ claims , which you seemed to object to in your original post above were the beginning of those as I see it. Now some scientist has had his nose rubbed in his ‘lies’ saying that Britains’ snowy winters are a thing of the past. When do Govts. require these lies to be retracted and apologies given. When will Govts. accept that they were wrong to steal cash from their citizens; especially those who have resisted and complained that the scientific ‘proof’ is still not robust enough. No I will not go with the flow and follow the money, I will attack the ideology and seek truth of evidence and not go along with scientific prediction and summising which keeps having to be changed when nature doesn’t cooperate. No PP I will not go with the flow and thereby give credence to bad science.

          • Polish Pride

Good, a man of uncompromising principle. I hope it is not just limited to the climate change/global warming argument.

    • cows4me

So farmers are to classed as a different section of society and under no circumstances are they to get state help, is the right PP? Then tell me why a natural disaster like an earthquake in CHCH has the taxpayers of this country forking out billions to help those insured and uninsured to rebuild, oh that’s right they’re townies and the rules are different. Some farmers may indeed need state assistance but you can bet they won’t be on the state tit for a generation or two, unlike the legions that have drawn welfare for 2 to 3 generations. You want to lose the chip on your shoulder you’ll tip over.

      • Polish Pride

Don’t kid yourself Cows4me farmers have been getting state handouts for eons whether its drought relief, flood relief, subsidies back in the day or prime realestate in Queeenstown from Landcorp.
Now for the record I have no problem at all with farmers or anyone else getting help when it is needed I grew up in a farming community and live rural now. What I have a problem with is blatent hypocracy ie. those that have their handout yet bitch and moan about others in need getting benefits without offering viable alternatives.
No chip on my shoulder either it is just an ability to see things for what they are.

        • johnbronkhorst

“What I have a problem with is blatent hypocracy” really? Like that of the welfare beneficiary that STATES there are no jobs out there, but……has NEVER actually applied for one…so how would they know?

          • Polish Pride

Yes John that too …. I don’t discrminate on my disdain for hypocracy.
That said whilst I am sure that there might be a handful in that camp, I suspect that most are not and I do not buy into Nationals propoganda about it as it merely enables them to take from many in need to give to corporates and other special interest groups of their own choosing. If National were serious about jobs here they wouldn’t be sending all the work around asset sales over to Aussie companies instead of NZ ones.

          • johnbronkhorst

I think the answer to you can be summed up as …”PURE TWADDLE”. that which you speak.

          • Polish Pride

care to back that up John? while your at it care to back up your earlier statement I wasn’t going to call you out on but hey if thats how you want to play it…

“Like that of the welfare beneficiary that STATES there are no jobs out there, but……has NEVER actually applied for one…so how would they know?”
got an example of this pervasive situation?

          • johnbronkhorst

They have been throughout the news for YEARS, but a high profile example may be ……..Allamein Kopu…..remember her? One of andertons picks her first and only job was to be pick as a list MP at the age of 50 odd (I think).

          • Polish Pride

and she didn’t raise any kids in that time?

          • johnbronkhorst

SO WHAT!!! What about before she had her first, after she had her last? Not to mention all those women that manage to have children AND work in a job outside the home, for wages, too.

          • Polish Pride

So you don’t consider being a mother a full time job then John!?!
Perhaps if more people treated it as such our society might be in much better shape than it is, Thats what

          • johnbronkhorst

Don’t reinterpret what I said!! It is as it stands.

          • Polish Pride

So how should it be interpreted – Mothers should only become politicians if they have also had a paying job at some point in their lives???

          • johnbronkhorst

            IDIOT!!!

          • johnbronkhorst

“….sending all the work around asset sales over to Aussie companies instead of NZ ones.”
Maybe you’d like to list the companies in NZ that have the skills and experience to deal with this?

          • Polish Pride

That is a very long list especially for the last job I became aware of – developing the website- come on seriously… if there’s a method to their madness, I’d like to know what it is.

          • johnbronkhorst

Typical…state there is a LONG list…but no names?? REALLY??? Name one, no, name 3 as that is common practice for competitive quoting.

          • Polish Pride

Datacom, Gen-i, Springload, Webdesign Then theres the other IT companies that varen’t NZ owned but that employ 100s of New Zealanders IBM, HP, NEC ….and more

          • johnbronkhorst

None of these have this experience….so go away and find me some that you didn’t just copy from the telephone book!

          • Polish Pride

John I have worked for the biggest of these organisations and believe me they can build something as simple as a website for a customer and have done much more than that in the past when required. It would be a very poor excuse for an IT vendor if they couldn’t build a website don’t you think!?!

    • johnbronkhorst

They only changed the name of their international socialist cause from “global warming” to “climate change” because they got caught lying and making up results.
They still haven’t answered the key question,. How does moving (redistributing) money around the planet, cure climate change?
      EG
If we take money from the USA via carbon credits, they will just put up the prices and cover it.
Give money to Africa and they will build industries that pollute, in order to become more like and as wealthy as the USA.
So how will this improve global climate/ warming change?

      • Polish Pride

“They still haven’t answered the key question,. How does moving (redistributing) money around the planet, cure climate change?”
        Exactly!!
        Wow JB impressive.

        • johnbronkhorst

So why are you advocating this…I’d call it a myth but myths are explanations of events using terms and stories ignorant people can understand. These are just lies!

          • Polish Pride

not advocating as such well not directly. As in I don’t go running around saying Climate Change is real, it’s real I tell you. I am all for anything that preserves, improves restores the environment and anything that will drive change and foster innovation away from fossil fuels. Well almost anything so long as there’s common sense behind it for that reason I hate wind farms (inefficient and are a blight the natural landscape) and prefer hydro dams (dams and lakes improve the environment)

          • johnbronkhorst

So you are a pro muldoonist think big advocate then?? Afterall he did more in this area (maybe not for these reasons) than anyone since.

          • Polish Pride

wouldn’t say I’m pro muldoonist but I do think that all parties should privide a vision of the future with a short (5year) medium (10year) and longterm (20 – 25year) plan and be able to demonstrate how their policies would get us there. But as a rule I generally do think big, yes.
