Celibate? Why? Box is wrecked probably

A woman who reckons she rooted more than 370 men now claims she has been celibate for 4 years.

Probably because her box is well wrecked and still in recovery.

APPROACHING a man at a bar, Seyi Kolade had only one thing on her mind as she chatted with the stranger – SEX.

Within hours the pair were in bed together and she was delighted at how her evening had panned out.

And this was not a chance encounter, for Seyi was a sex addict and it was what she did almost every day for 13 YEARS.

Last night she said: “Sex addiction took hold of my life.”

Seyi, 35, was just 17 when she became dependent on sleeping with men. By 19 she had had 40 partners and she says she has bedded a shocking total of 370 men.

Her dangerous addiction led her to a life of destruction — catching sexually transmitted infections, being evicted from her home and having two terminations.

By the age of 30, Seyi had hit rock bottom and needed help. Today, after attending numerous sex addiction meetings and 12-step programmes, Seyi has been celibate for four years and is helping others like her.

She explains says: “Sex addiction is something people associate with men, but it took hold of my life for more than 13 years.

“It was a craving and a fear of how I’d feel if I couldn’t get it.

“Once I did, it was a huge relief, like a weight was lifted.

“It’s like any addiction. It made me selfish, self-destructive and depressed but it was a cycle I couldn’t escape.”

She adds: “I lost my virginity when I was 13 with my first boyfriend.

“I was shocked when I fell pregnant. I gave birth when I was 14. It was a very difficult time.”

Social services arranged a nanny to look after her daughter, Sarah, from six weeks old.

Being a young mum scarred Seyi’s childhood. She says: “I moved out of home when I was 16 with Sarah and lived in a mother and baby unit. I felt terribly lonely. I craved affection, I was miserable.”

This kind of article, and particularly the heading, is what belonged to the old Truth.

    • OT Richter

Is that a complaint or a complement?

      • jaundiced

Well, some readers of Whaleoil have commented that the seedy stuff put them off reading Truth. This stuff neither informs nor entertains. It’s about someone who suffered a genuine addiction (which might be of interest in itself), but the introduction is puerile and salacious.

Bollocks! HTFU and remember who the blog belongs to.

          • Euan Ross-Taylor

I hope you are not suggesting that only positive and ‘supporting’ comments are acceptable?

          • 4077th

            No!

        • http://www.whaleoil.co.nz/ Whaleoil

You obviously never bought Truth…what they were talking about was the tits and vagina and hooker ads in the middle.

          • Euan Ross-Taylor

I did, and I fully support jaundiceds’ comment – which, in itself, validates it.

“Well, some readers of Whaleoil have commented that the seedy stuff put them off reading Truth”

No, that was just unsol repeating herself at any mention on the Truth paper.

Reasonably interesting topic… and a gal I used to “hunt” back in the day, armed with only a willing wing man and a cheeky grin… and a few drinks…
But today, I’m unable to find much amusement in the “story” as she clearly has some mental health issues, and who am I to “judge” her and her situation without having walked a mile in her shoes…
    Just sayin’
Remember folks – mental health issues can and does affect us all in some way or other and its often very difficult to tell, especially when a smile masquerades the pain deliberately hidden…

    • Patrick

Agree, she ain’t addicted to sex, she has a head problem.

    • Bunswalla

Yes, before you criticise someone you should always walk a mile in their shoes. That way, if you do feel the need to criticise and they get really pissed off, you’ll be a mile away – and you’ll have their shoes.

  • richard.b

She may have lost her virginity, but she did not loose the box it came in.

    • WayneO

      9/10 for that one!

    • Travis Poulson

You lot are on fire today

  • GregM

Fulton Hogan would be able to use her as a new culvert under a motorway.

    • OT Richter

      A box culvert.

    • Richard McGrath

      She’ll be buried in a Y-shaped coffin.

      • GregM

Yup, and if she coughed, she would fold inside out and look like a red back spider.

  • Mr_Blobby

Her biggest regret is that she did not charge for the service.

  • tarkwin

I had a similar problem – marriage cured it.

  • Richard McGrath

Of course a bloke with this history of sexual ‘conquests’ would be the envy of his mates. When I was a full time GP I had a female patient who admitted to having had about 300 partners… and she was still going strong (i.e. entertaining male visitors) in her early 80s! With the lady mentioned in the story above, you do have to wonder – where were her parents while she was busy conceiving a baby at the age of 13?

    • Patrick

Let’s hope the daughter had a better life than the Mum.

  • johnbronkhorst

    So…she’ll be marrying a farmer then….
After all, he’ll need somewhere to park his tractor!

    • Travis Poulson

      lol!

  • steve and monique

    Tow rope and plank anyone.

  • Rangi

So, between the ages of 13 and 31 she claims to have bedded 370 men? 18yrs / 370 is a shade under 21 a year.

Im a tad worried now, in my single, uni & early career days I reckon pulling 2 a month was entirely likely…

Does she actually have an issue? Or, is this another point & laugh without thought to the “problem”? (Celibacy seems like a bit of an over-reaction.)

    • GregM

“pulling 2 a month” Hah I say! when I was that age I was pulling two a day, nobody else involved.

    • blairmulholland

I don’t know Rangi, do people who drink three bottles of vodka a day have an issue, or do they just like to party?

Some people have a lot of sex and it doesn’t affect their life all that much. Some people drink a lot and likewise it doesn’t affect their life. But some people who do these things are addicts, and joking about it and pretending they don’t have a problem when they do is insensitive to the real harm these people cause both themselves and others.

Just as many alcoholics find the best way of dealing with their addiction is to drink nothing, so sex addicts often find the best way of dealing with their problem is to be celibate.
