Copyright issues for Labour candidate?

Meka Whaitiri has been using a song in her campaign vids on YouTube.

The loops she is using is from “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke currently top of the charts here in NZ.

Unless she has permission to use it, there are at least  two potential breaches of copyright:

and;

I wonder too whether or not the Labour women’s caucus approves of using a song which uses these words as lyrics:

What do they make dreams for
When you got them jeans on
What do we need steam for
You the hottest bitch in this place

and;

One thing I ask of you
Let me be the one you back that ass to
Yo, from Malibu, to Paribu
Yeah, had a bitch, but she ain’t bad as you
So hit me up when you passing through
I’ll give you something big enough to tear your ass in two
Swag on, even when you dress casual
I mean it’s not almost unbearable
Then, honey you’re not there when I’m
With my foresight bitch you pay me by
Nothing like your last guy, he too square for you
He don’t smack that ass and pull your hair like that
So I just watch and wait for you to salute
But you didn’t pick
Not many women can refuse this pimpin’
But I’m a nice guy, but you get it if you get with me

    Class, style and taste always rises to the top… as cream of the crop…

    Presumably the lyrics were written and performed by a member of a victimized demographic – most likely a black man from the ghetto. Oh wait, this dude’s a honky! Maybe he’s pretending to be black, which makes him “avant-garde” and definitely an honorary member of the clique. Race trumps gender in the never never world of Labour remember. Just look at how feminists respond to misogynistic camel jockeys if you need empirical evidence to support such a claim.

    This version of the video, which is NOT SAFE FOR WORK, will not please the labour caucus at all, except for probably Trevor Mallard.

    And if she has permission? Just shit stirring and looking for something to poke a stick at.

      If she has permission ? She is still using lyrics that could have been written for the Taliban diaspora.
