Labour’s SkyCity hypocrisy, Ctd

David Shearer has now had to admit that despite calling the SkyCity deal “sleazy” he is quite happy to pop in and avail himself of their hospitality, which he described and just saying hello.

Patrick Gower doesn’t think much of this:

Now Phil Goff has declared he was the fourth labour hypocrite:

Comment of the day on this goes to Agent Ballsack:

Wait be fair – no one knew who he was, after all hes no Aaron Gilmour.

They just can’t help themselves . Don’t they have ANY self awareness ?

The disconnect between their public statements and their public actions is a huge chasm .

Troughing is the modus operandi of the left , without a doubt . Fools .

    • unsol

Yes they are, but they are in good company as “In politics, stupidity is not a handicap” ~ Napoleon

And it stands to reason that the left have their snouts so deeply embedded in any & every trough as their entire ideology is based on how to spend money they expect others to earn.

Quite simply you can’t reason with fools; one can only hope that most NZers continue to see that to vote them in is to vote for a result like Greece.

      • Polish Pride

Are you calling National Left Unsol? They also deal in taking money from one group and giving it to others. Whether it is taxes from the middle class given to corporates as corporate welfare or policies to reduce wages in the working class to increase profits to shareholders. It is at the end of the day ALL about wealth redistribution.

        • unsol

Hmmmmmm walked into that one. Oops.

The Nats only do so because they don’t have the balls to return to their core values.

But we can live in hope. And their version of left is always going to be far better than the left’s version of left!

          • Agent BallSack

The Lefts left is a reach around

        • Ronnie Chow

That’s bullshit from the 60′s , Polish . Now , taxes pay for welfare .

The three largest areas of total Crown expenditure for the 2011/12 financial year were:

Social security and welfare: $25.5 billion

          Health: $13.7 billion

          Education: $12.4 billion

          • Polish Pride

Not sure I get your point Ronnie, I was eluding to the fact that both sides are in the game of wealth redistribution. It is not just the domain of the Left. It is just the targets of both taking from, and giving to that are different. The underlying practice though Is the same.

        • In Vino Veritas

Who’s wages have the National Government reduced Polish? I wait with baited breath for the answer on that one. And which companies have received corporate welfare?

And I disagree with your contention about it being all about wealth redistribution. I think its more about greed. People that cannot afford (basically consumables and non income producing assets) things they believe should be theirs by right. They then indebt themselves to get them and surprise, surprise, plead poverty and low wages when they can’t pay for them.

      • Agent BallSack

What they need to do is stop pretending they are any different from the other guys in power..Tell your core voters – Yes we need to do deal with big companies and multinationals to improve the quality of economy, and by virtue of it – your lives. All their policy seems to be is say in feigned shock ‘YOU DID THIS?’ then afterwards reap the political fall out when they realise ‘THAT’ is necessary. To be an effective Government you need support from the business leaders in this country – that’s a given in a country that relies on a few core exports to survive. If you don’t fete business support or even worse – threaten business livelihood with your policies, then you’ve got a pretty poor show of entering into Government,

    • Polish Pride

Troughing I the modus operandi of ‘politicians’. There fixed it for ya :)

  • LionKing

You’ve got to give it to those lobbyists at Sky City – they are good. Just hope they took some photos.

  • maninblack

    what a pack of wankers.

  • Whafe

Seriously, what a pack of cunts….. There arrogance knows no boundaries….
    Makes me sick…..

  • GregM

Steve Joyce got a good sledge in…

  • Mr_Blobby

Regardless the Skycity monopoly gambling concession still smells. Auckland Council will continue with their policy of removing the remaining competition.

Seriously does nobody else see that giving a corporation, any corporation, the sole rights to a market is wrong.

National, Labor and Council should all be hanging there heads in shame.

    • unsol

Upvote because I am 50/50 on it too – it does smell of dirty dealing. Would like to see the full details. On the other hand, getting a new venue at no cost to the taxpayer is pretty shrewd business. If it was Labour we would paying for the venue AND paying Skycity to profit from it!!!

    • Agent BallSack

Lowering the ceiling on gambling devices is good, in my opinion. The fact is if you have problem gamblers what better place to have them but in one place – At SkyCity Casino. Now what we need to do is make it so SkyCity has to fund the bulk cost of gambling addiction costs in the country – that would make sure that the profits they are making are also disbursed to the actual problem that needs it. That in turn increases their surveillance on problem gamblers because they don’t want to pay for them further down the line.

      • Polish Pride

        Give that man ^ a DB :)

  • Travis Poulson

Hope there’s some polls getting released shortly, love to see how much Labour has taken a dive.

    • PlanetOrphan

They’ll be wanting to drop the MMP threshold soon …

  • Agent BallSack

I think Paddy was pretty pissed that Shearer thought he could obfuscate those questions put to him. Maybe some journalistic integrity is creeping into the media…

    • unsol

Hmmm maybe. His turnaround is awfully surprising. Really didn’t think he had him. Mind you, it is as surprising as say if it had been Garner.

  • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Guys, guys, hang on. Storm in a teacup. Sheep Shearer is a very likeable guy. He is the Prime Minister of this country. What is wrong in visiting the corporate box to say howdy there to the people of this country? After all SKY CITY is a business in this country and Sheep is respecting that. Let us move on folks.

    • Agent BallSack

Perhaps you can tell us how many power shares PM Shearer bought with his offshore slush fund one day SCS ☺

      • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Brother Agent – I thought the entire country agreed that it was a minor mistake by a honest person and moved on….you are the only person who is still hanging onto this non-issue….
