Good Luck Lianne

Regular readers will know that Lianne Dalziel once threatened legal action against this blog for some trivial matter. This never went anywhere, after Lianne calmed down and perhaps realised her lawyer was not very good.

It is hard to hold a grudge against Lianne when you hear stories of her twenty years of hard work in her electorate and how much constituents love her. She has the guts to stand up for what she believes in, even if these beliefs are misguided, and has had the guts to walk away from a potential cabinet position to run for Mayor. She also has the guts to promise to resign before the election results are released.

In Christchurch Lianne has the reputation of being a reasonable woman who will work with her political opponents rather than just fight them like Clayton Cosgrove does, and she is not at all horrible like Ruth Dyson. This is the kind of person Christchurch needs after six years of near dictatorship from Bob Parker and Tony Maryatt.

You can read her campaign launch here. It is a bit long and boring and lefty but her actions have often spoken louder than her words.

Lianne Dalziel is not Whaleoil endorsed for the Christchurch Mayoralty. She is too left wing for endorsement. She is wished good luck and admired for her willingness to stand up for what she believes in.

I take it this is a satire?
She has the guts to stand up for what she believes in, even if these
beliefs are misguided, and has had the guts to walk away from a
potential cabinet position to run for Mayor. She also has the guts to
promise to resign before the election results are released.

Potential cabinet position? They are nowhere near govt, let alone cabinet. More like moving from one hard to reach trough to an easier one. Anyone think Chch city council won’t become a vehicle for Labour party propaganda?

    • David

We’ve got a Labour councillor in Christchurch already Yani Johansen and he is more than enough. He is always negative and is a backward-thinking Luddite. I fear that Dalziel will be the same.

Hasn’t she done the near impossible?
Been fired from a helen clarke cabinet for LYING?

  • harden up

FFS. She is not resigning before using her MP perks to fund her election campaign though is she?
    Have you grown a vag?

  • Rodger T

Was he taking his flowers back? Or does the ‘security’ guy have a long arm?

“A crowd of dozens had gathered” …

      Says it all really.

  • Timboh

Well you have applied liberal doses of vinegar to her in the past but on balance probably a fair call. Her membership of that cabal is hard to forget tho…

  • Col

Cheap bitch, I asked if she was resigning and no one said boo, and then we the tax payer pay for an other fucking vote count because she wants to be Mayor. Hand your fucking notice in to the Labour party and if you win you win and if you don’t fuck off and join the unemployed, I hope you fall flat on your face, you have never had a real job in your life. The hard work has been done sweetie down here.

just watched the Aftermath programme and you would have seen Paul who has lead the central Retail rebuild mall innovation and He is also standing for Mayor and is a lot younger and has the vision and drive that the city needs and as for D her opening speech does nothing for anyone by vague suggestion and policy crap very like the three amigos running around at present, with little she would be called to account on.
simply we need better than what she is offering and paul has already proven he can lead and network under trying times and win and that’s where the future is not hanging on to the past and the old kiwi committee talking about everything and nothing happening.
