What happened at Charlie Hebdo is etched forever in the nation’s consciousness. The terrorist attack at the Lindt Café in Australia is another attack that will never be forgotten. My newsfeed now daily not weekly contains the details of yet another terrorist attack somewhere in the Western world. There are now too many to report on. I actually wondered if the latest one would even be covered by our media because they have become so common and we have already become desensitised to them.
As is common with media coverage of these attacks the headline gives no clue that this is yet another Islam-related attack. Despite the headline doing its best to steer us away from the truth the sheer number of these lone wolf attacks has educated even the most naive of readers. If a man ran towards us yelling “God is the greatest” none of us would flinch but if a man ran towards us yelling, “Allahu Akbar” every single one of us would react immediately. This is not because we’re racist or Islamophobic. It is because story after story after story of attacks on individuals or groups involves a man yelling, “Allahu Akbar”. Even if we were stupid enough to believe that these are lone wolf attacks by mentally ill people that have nothing to do with Islam, all of us, conservatives and liberals alike know that the words,”Allahu Akbar” signal that something terrible is about to happen.
The headline reads, “Woman stabbed to death at Australian backpackers in front of dozens”
One woman is dead and two other people injured after a stabbing at a backpacker hotel in Australia.
A French national allegedly yelled out “Allahu Akbar” as he attacked the group at Shelley’s Backpackers in Home Hill, north Queensland, about 11.15pm on Tuesday.
Queensland Police Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski said the investigation was still in early stages and it was unclear if the statements made by the alleged attacker at the scene were of an extremist nature.
“It is alleged that the suspect used the phrase ‘Allahu Akbar’ during the attack and when arrested by police,” he said.
“Whilst this information will be factored into the information we are not ruling out any motivations at this early stage, whether they be political or criminal.”
Political or criminal huh? While Islam is clearly a political ideology most people naively think of it as just a religion. Why did the police not mention religion as a possible motivation?
More than 30 people witnessed the knife attack that left the 21-year-old British woman dead. A 31-year-old British man remains in a critical condition.
Another person was taken to hospital with a stab wound to the leg but has since been released.
Superintendent Ray Rohweder said police were confronted by a “terrible scene” when they arrived at the hostel.
“But both officers … acted tremendously and ensured the safety of other persons at the venue,” he said.
…Police are yet to establish a motive for the incident, Rohweder said.
…A 29-year-old French national, who has been in the country for some months, is expected to be charged over the attack.
What is the bet that the French national is a migrant who has lived in France for a short period of time? The media always do all they can to hide the offenders racial and religious identity because they don’t want readers to jump to the obvious conclusion. Isn’t it strange that they also neglected to mention the guy’s name? They always do that when the name indicates a certain racial or religious identity.
Back in 2011, a blogger wrote an entire article about the words “Allahu Akbar.” Even back then he knew the power of those two words and the threat they represented to the non-Muslim world.
