While slightly off topic, being an employee and employer many times I’ve always hated the concept of references in general. Generally, if someone is leaving a job its because something isin’t going right however your whole future relies on the unbiased (?) opinion from the person who it has likely affected the most even if they are part of the problem. I’ve also observed several times the enthusiastic verbal support of a ‘horror’ employee just to get them out of the business and have someone else have the privilege of there presence! But there really is no other way is there?
