Great line up there Nechtan. Thanks

My favorite Warren Zevon off Learning to Flinch

I saw him do the acrostic show at “The Gluepot ” early 90’s a great show.

Johnandali answered last nights question with:

“packing up and coming back ”

Have you moved away and then ended up returning?

    • spanishbride

We moved to Melbourne for good, sold everything and then 9 months later were heading back to NZ thanks to a redundancy. Worst part was we had leased a vehicle and a house and had to pay for the house until they found another tenant which meant living with my parents in NZ until another tenant in Aussie was found. It was a very stressful time and set us back financially. We had left an ideal situation in Wellington for an Aussie adventure that went terribly wrong.Plus we had young children and I was isolated from family and knew no one. I was actually glad to be back in NZ.

  • LabTested

Are we allowed to say Faaker on WO?

Because my bike is packed & in a few hours I am heading off to Faaker See in Austria – It’s European Bike week!!

A sensory overload of Bikes, Beer, Bands, Bratwurst & Babes.

European Bike week is held in Faaker See and every year gets 70,000-100,000 bikes. Video is from last year.

    • Les couilles de chien.

looks great, couple of Rocket 111s I’d like to have a closer look at!

    • Duchess of Pork

You have missed the the vital information! Is the GFs bike packed and ready?

      • LabTested

She can’t go. Work commitments, so i’m heading off with a group. I am genuinely surprised about how little stuff I need to pack when it’s just me & not the GF. I mean what do you need for 5 days? 3 pairs of socks & 2 tee shirts should do it

        • Duchess of Pork

That will certainly ensure you remain chaste. The GF need have no worries.

          • LabTested

Schengen borders are still very open. However they do seem to be pulling over most buses & doing random stops of trucks. But motorbikes just tend to get waived through

      Didn’t see no Muslim chapter.

  • Blueburd

Here is the latest on Crooked Hilary. How she has been getting away with this is just astounding

    • cows4me

They must rub their hands when she walks into the apple store. The woman is as bent as a post staple.

      • Michelle

especially one that has hit a knot in the post

        • Nige.

Especially one which has been attempted to be driven into a steel waratah (is that getting too ridiculous?)

          • cows4me

You don’t need to hit them into steel waratahs to bend them, nice old and dry posts can be as hard as steel.

          • Michelle

an old puriri post, they blunt drill bits in seconds

        • cows4me

Maybe that’s her problem Michelle, she might have taken to many hits to the head, it’s not like she can remember anything.

          • Michelle

yes anything that would put her in deep do do’s seems to have slipped her mind completely

  • Salami Warning

Winston Peters sounded odd in an interview broadcast on NewstalkZB news late afternoon today. Talking slowly is not standard operating procedure for him!

    • Carl

I heard that and thought the same it was really odd.

      • Salami Warning

It could be serious. Hopefully he has been checked for other stroke signs. Happened exactly like that for my father.

      • Gazza

His continual polling he says are bulldor dust have shown he has stuffed up by the resurgence of his donation scandals and lies

    • XCIA

More like the effects of a long liquid lunch. He always speaks slowly and deliberately when he’s three sheets to the wind.

      • Salami Warning

Best avoid afternoon interviews then. Had me worried he might have to take a break from politics. Well not worried exactly.

      • Michelle

I can see Winnie and Keef sitting together drinking and shooting the breeze when the world ends they will be the only ones left

    • Gazza

      Was there slurred speech :)

      • Salami Warning

No, just very slow. Deeply concerned

        • Gazza

Would he not be nervous about his lies and cheques being place in his pocket

          • Salami Warning

Nervousness normally manifests in rapid speech but Winston is not normal.

  • Sally

The report by the AG Re Little’s complaint about Scenic Hotels in Nuie is out. The procedure was standard, no-one did anything wrong.
Oh dear, looks like Little is facing defamation from the Hagamans with no proof.
    http://www.oag.govt.nz/media/2016/niue-hotel

    • Wasapilot

First Colin craig and colin craig in court, little to follow. Great entertainment.

      • Sally

Little will settle, I can’t see him going to court, unless he is more stubborn than I think he is.

        • Wasapilot

Oh no, please don’t settle andy. Think of all the hours of entertainment lost to those of us who dellight in his stupidity.

          • Gazza

No no no , please try and settle Angry Andy , and please the Hagermans , hang him out to dry

        • Carl

Why did he not say sorry before the allotted time to avoid defamation? That was him being either stubborn or stupid or both.

          • Isherman

He’ll now be praying a personal private apology will do it. I hope not.

          • Sally

Not sure the word “sorry” is in the Union manual.

          • Isherman

Yeah, not sure “outreach” is in the Parliamentary Services manual either, but…hey.

          • Gazza

Nope , he had a time frame for the easy way out , he should be sued and forced to humiliate himself a couple of months before the election

          • kayaker

            Bullies never apologise.

          • STAG

The man is a fool, to blinded by his own brilliance to see the incredulous looks one everyone else’s faces.

          • Gazza

Cause I think he really believes his vile smear was true , either that ,or dark forces were working against him

        • Gazza

He verges on narcissism , he will never say sorry and tell the world his smear stunk to high heaven , I hope the Hagarmans to go and take a jump , force him to apologise and recant

        • Dave

Little can only settle if the hate mans accept, I don’t think they will accept unless there is a very public apology, miss not like the hagemans are desperate for the funds, but $50k for their legal expenses, $50k for them and $100k donation from A Litte to the national party and a very public and grovelling apology might work.

    • Blueburd

I was just thinking about this today. I hope the Hagamans follow this through to the end

      • Gazza

Yes , and I hope the twist the knife every opportunity they can , but I am sure every body would agree , Little twists the knife on us vile righties every chance he can :)

    • Isherman

Ever the bearer of good news.

      • Nige.

        The gifts that keep giving

        • Gazza

The smearing By Angry Andy of many people know , stinks to high heaven :)

    • STAG

Reset!! Reset the counter!! What a clod.

    • Gazza

Exactly sally , I was going to mention this tonight , but I will just add to your post , fact is , as we all knew , the whole process was conducted by Horwath HTL Limited (Horwath HTL), and the selection of Scenic Hotel Group as the operator for the resort was consistent with the advice Horwath HTL provided to hotel owners, Matavai Niue Limited.
The delusion of Little is immense , and the arrogance of him is more than likely the reason his staff are leaving monthly , to the stage he doesn’t really have any staff , who would want to pick op either of the poison chalice

      • Alan Beresford B’Stard

And he was given ample opportunity to retract the lies, but refused. Is that the sort of intelligence we need running the country?

        • Gazza

Exactly , that is why the hagermans should haul him over the coals , even if he greets them on bended knee

    • Second time around

No reasonable or rational person could claim that the deal “stank to high heaven”. It is extremely unlikely that Labour has any other information, for the AG would surely have referred to it.

      • Bruno 32

The only stink is coming from Little.

    • Bruno 32

As a kiwi with nuiean heritage ,and a strong interest with the local politics I could not believe the ignorance of little. I wish the Hagamans well in clearing their good name.

  • Wasapilot

Last reminder to those of you playing theWO footy picking competition to get your picks in before 7.30 tonight.

        Whale Oil
HookerPhil is the owner, so I am sure he will sort it out for you.

  • MaryLou

So, turns out the Anti Defamation League (Hate crimes) has a problem with the way Black Lives Matter purport themselves. Their entire reason for being is centred on these issues – not just antisemitism, but ALL hate crimes. When they have an issue with how a minority group is portraying their grievances, you know there is a problem.

I see an art auction is been held in Auckland at the moment and one of Colin Macharn “paintings ?” is on the block. I guess I’m just to much of an uneducated peasant but if that’s art I’m the Queen mother. Wouldn’t hang it in an outhouse, mind you it would have to be a big outhouse.

    • Hard1

It certainly isn’t a Constable. Crappy, rough artwork, later imbued with layer after layer of deeper and deeper meaning, pure embellishment by the auctioneers, none of which the artist imagined when he was painting it.
The prize is the status of the buyer and the investment value, which is totally arbitrary.

Paul Allen just sold this painting “Onement VI” at Sotheby’s for $43.8 million

      • cows4me

Fools and their money are easily parted.

A special message for the left (pic)

    • JeffW2

Is it possible, by definition, for the left to have good ideas? Or do the laws of unintended consequences and human nature always turn lefty ideas into bad ones?

      • curry4me

        Yes.

    • Disinfectant

Yeah, tried that and it doesn’t change things.

The National Party saying it as it is on Facebook

    • Michelle

Nice to see them getting their message out there without relying on the Media party to put their spin on it

    • Nige.

Anyone with half a brain can see they talk out of both sides of their mouths. Why they believe the spin is a mystery. Maybe they only have ¼ of a brain?

      • BigNose

Yeah, but there’s an awful lot of stupid out there – 40-odd percent according to the polls.

      • XCIA

Fast forward to November 2017. Can you imagine these two Muppets with Peters the Magnificent in a tripartite deal to run the country?

        • Nige.

I was explaining to my daughter how much easier it is do do school projects on your own rather than in a group. The same can be applied to government.

          • XCIA

I would surmise that having three differing and almost diametrically opposed mindsets endeavouring to run a country would lead to a lot of lunch cutting where they would be continually fighting internal rear guard actions to the detriment of going forward.

Hmm. Just been over on the Young Nats facebook page, as daughter apparently had a bit of a hard time there, despite being as “right” as a 15 yr old can be. Thought I’d snoop :).

Sad to say they all sound as bitter and ignorant as commenters over at the Standard, and about as willing to discuss things as old Wrongly. Where are their parents? Or are they a bit old for that? Letting the side down, I thought.

  • sandalwood789

I see that “Titch” has stood down as the national men’s sevens coach. Good on him, it was the right thing to do.

He has given a lot over the years and the side has been very successful but the last couple of years have been very much downhill. Losing to Japan was shocking.
A new coach, new players and a new approach are needed.

Thanks, Sir Gordon, and best wishes for the future.

    • Nige.

I was thinking, we should get the women’s coach to replace him.

      Sorry ladies.

      • sandalwood789

I think the women’s sevens team has struggled too (although not quite as much as the men). The rest of the world has caught up too – particularly Australia.

Women’s sevens too would be well advised to look at itself and see where improvements can be made.

        • Nige.

I hear the Australian women’s rugby team are in negotiations with the wallabies….

    • hookerphil

Interesting comments from Eric Rush – Saying that he believed we had the players but they were not fit enough. Now as this was a “Titch” thing he alluded to players were dictating how much fitness training they needed to do.

  • Nige.

Need a cry? Here is a caller to Leighton from this morning which i spoke of this morning in GD.

It involves a lady who despite having terminal cancer is struggling to make ends meet and cant understand why she finds it so hard when others are getting $900+ A WEEK FOR POPPING OUT KIDS.

If you want to skip to her then go straight to 5:15ish, but i recommend listening from the start for context.

    http://120.138.20.16/WeekOnDemand/ZB/auckland/2016.09.07-10.15.00-S.mp3

    • Old Kiwi

Yes listened to her with a tear in the eye this morning Nige. I think she only gets to keep $37.00 for the eleven hours worked. Leighton had it right. People like Heather is who our welfare system should be helping not the bludgers.

Was encouraged by the numbers ringing in down crying the bludgers bleeding our welfare system this morning. Maybe the worm is turning – always hopeful.

      • Michelle

Sadly ones like Heather do not know how to work the system and sadly have to say possible wrong colour and so they miss out on what they are entitled to

        • JEL51

Leighton said there were many offers of help that followed.

          • Michelle

Pleased to hear that and hope she takes them up on their offers and gets what she is entitled to

          • kayaker

Leighton handled it so well. He’s been doing quite a bit of that lately. It’s great to see that channel being used for positive outcomes. Heather’s talk with him this morning really brought out the best in people.

    • kayaker

I heard Heather this morning. Her talk with Leighton stopped me in my tracks. She can hold her head high – what an amazing person. If only…

UMR ( The people who survey for Labour when they can afford it) just called.
Asked who I would vote for if election tomorrow, stated National then next question was scale of 1 to 10 how likely was it I may vote for NZ First at next election, when I said unlikely they thanked me and ended conversation.
Most interesting some one is looking at how much Winnie may peel off National I wonder why.

Unfortunately I never got that far as my wife answered the phone and authoritively replied “No, we are eating dinner” then hung up. I snorted and didn’t speak to her for 5 minutes.

And about time .. But will it work?

UK immigration minister confirms work to start on £1.9m Calais wall
Robert Goodwill says four-metre high wall to stop refugees boarding lorries is part of £17m Anglo-French security package.

Work is about to begin on “a big, new wall” in Calais as the latest attempt to prevent refugees and migrants jumping aboard lorries heading for the Channel port, the UK’s immigration minister has confirmed.

“People are still getting through,” he said. “We have done the fences. Now we are doing the wall,” the new immigration minister told the Commons home affairs committee.

Closer resemblance to John Inman (Mr Humphreys) in my opinion.
