Hone Harawira

How will it ever work?

Let’s look at how Phil Goff is supposed to form a government and try and work out if it is at all possible.

Winston peters says he won’t work with anyone. We know this to be a lie of course. But let us imagine for a moment that Winston told the truth. Phil Goff can’t therefore turn to him should he make 5%.

So the math is G=LP-WP. Not looking goo so far.

We know the Greens will work with Labour. That makes the math G=LP+GP-WP

We know that Phil Goff says he won’t work with Hone Harawira…interesting turn of phrase…will he work with Mana without Hone Harawira as it’s leader, and is Phil Goff actually saying that he will turn down government if he has to rely on Hone Harawira. Let’s take Phil Goff at his word, since he says he doesn’t lie [cough]

That make the math look like this: G=(LP+GP) – (Mana+WP)

On current polling averages that is: 50=(26.5+12.9)-(0.9+3.2) 0r 50=39.4-4.1 or 50=35.3

As you can see the equation doesn’t add up. In order to make government which is on or about 50% of the vote Labour are still 14.7% short of 50%.

That means in the last week of the election Labour needs a swing of more than 7% against the government in order to have the possibility of forming a government. Worse, that swing has to land in the Green and Labour camps for it to do any good. If it goes to Winston Peters or Mana that makes Phil Goff’s job harder for forming a government.

Of course though, we know Winston Peters will lie and so a vote for Winston Peters is a vote for a Phil Goff led government. When Winston says NO we know he means yes.

We can also see why we must get rid of MMP and Vote for Change and for a system that removes all this nonsense once and for all.

Desperate is as Desperate does

Yesterday I sat through an excruciating hour and half listening to Phil Goff parrot his strap lines like a poorly trained monkey.

When I made those 50 odd videos for the countdown, I got Goff’s mannerisms and speech patterns down pat. He hasn’t changed. Boredom was the reason I miseed this gem:

Labour’s not ruling out cutting a post election deal with Winston Peters and New Zealand First.

Phil Goff’s made the admission to Mike Hosking during Newstalk ZB’s leader’s breakfast broadcast this morning.

“Look, we’ll have a look at what the election throws up and who we need to talk to,” he says.

Asked if he did need to talk to Mr Peters, would he, Mr Goff replied “I haven’t ruled that out.”

So as we have known all along Labour are quite prepared to do a deal with the most corrupt politician in New Zealand history after Philip Field.

A vote for Labour is a vote for Winston Raymond Peters, 65, pensioner of St Mary’s Bay.

Phil Goff needs Hone Harawira, Winston Peters, the Greens and Peter Dunne to get across the line…maybe…depends on the numbers, right now they aren’t even close.

Hone says…

Hone Harawira was on the Stuff Live Chat…I love these as the exact words are recorded to hold them to account.

His thoughts on Phil Goff:

His thoughts on Shane Jones as leader of Labour:

and his policy of removing GST which Labour is going to have to reconcile:

Reconcile this Phil

Phil Goff started off talking about GST at the beginning of the year saying he would Axe the Tax, turns out that was a lie. Instead his position on GST is that they will try to take GST off fresh fruit and veges. They don’t know how, or what, and presumably the “expert panel” will help them out but that is their policy.

In order to form a government though Phil Goff and labour will likely have to rely on Hone Harawira and what ever band of malcontents he manages to coat-tail into parliament.

Yesterday he was on the Stuff Live chat and had this to say about GST:

Labour are committed to keeping GST, just removing it from fresh fruit and vegetables. Nut he must deal with Hone Harawira, so how is he going to reconcile Mana’s position for the removal of GST all together?

Even Hone has a campaign launch

Even Hone has a campaign launch:

Hone Harawira launched his Mana Party yesterday declaring he was standing for the rights of all poor New Zealanders.

“We are not just a party for Maori, we can no longer be a party just for Maori.”

The party was launched in Otara at Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Piripono with a campaign video called Tinorangatira Boy by Envisio. Candidates Angeline Greensill, James Papali’i, Misty Harrison, Sue Bradford, John Minto, Annette Sykes and Harawira addressed the full school hall.

Candidates told jokes as well as inciting a passionate and emotional response from the audience.

The most broken arsed lefty party in the land has a campaign launch. But Labour doesn’t. They were probably plotting how to be more nasty instead of running a launch.

Labour is the nasty party, Ctd

Labour are busy shopping a nasty little rumour, one that Hone Harawira started with a comment made under parliamentary privilege. Their proxy bloggers have had a go at trying to get some uptake as well.

Martyn Bradbury has had a go at spreading it, so has Trevor Mallard, several times, obviously both were too subtle so they have got Su’a William Sio to really have crack.

Is there any truth about the rumours emerging about ACT candidate in Epsom, maybe forced to step down?
@SWSio_MP
Su'a William Sio, MP

They are proving once again that Labour is the nasty party. They tried several times for smears on John Key, the most famous being the H-Fee smear. That too was shopped to media via blogs and social media. Leopards don’t change their spots and Labour continues to be the nasty party.

They are obviously too chicken to come out and say what it is that they are spreading around, preferring the media to walk into the way of a serious defamation suit instead of them. Cowards! Nasty smearing cowards.

Hone wants to hang Joyce

Hone Harawira can really be an offensive oaf sometimes:

Mana Party leader Mr Harawira wants a strong punishment for the Rena’s captain.

“Hanging the poor bugger might sound a bit harsh, but somebody should pay,” he said.

“Maybe we can send the Rena captain home with a stern warning and put [Transport Minister] Steven Joyce up on the gallows in his place.”

Are the wheels coming off the Mana bus?

The Mana party candidate for Tamaki Makaurau thinks John Key is alright:

Last year, while welcoming Labour leader Phil Goff to the annual Ratana celebrations, Mr Pene praised Mr Key as “a brilliant speaker” and “a person who should be admired”.

Yesterday, Mr Pene said he stood by his comments about the PM.

“We’re in a recession right now, and I’ve got to think like the rest of the country that he has done a pretty good job.”

Asked what Mana leader Hone Harawira would think of his view, given that he had walked away from the Maori Party because of his dislike of National, Mr Pene said: “National is actually the group that have done most of the great things for Maoridom over the last 20 years. You’ve got to give praise where it’s due.”

He said the Treaty settlements process, the Waitangi Tribunal and kohanga reo were all implemented under National.

Whoopsy, that will tick of the backroom elites manipulating Mana to their own ends.

Coddington Highlights National’s Problems

It is not often I agree with Deborah Coddington but today is an exception.is unusually sage this morning.

But let’s face it, National has no credible support partner right now. It can only rely on Peter Dunne. Who knows how many MPs the Maori Party will bring back to Parliament? Key has ruled out working with Hone Harawira and Winston Peters (even if NZ First does make it back).

Then there’s Act. Or, should I say, then there was Act.

Deborah highlights that National under MMP is in severe trouble after this election. They have no natural support parties. Yet their heads are so far in the sand they will not take a position on the electoral reform referendum. Their political foes have no such qualms and are even registered to spend up to $300,000 each telling us how they prefer New Zealand under the heel of MMP.

Watch Martyn spew

Martyn Bradbury likes to talk up his predictions, he makes so many of them that eventually some of them happen, but watch him spew bile and filth on the news of this poll on Te Tai Tokerau:

A poll of Maori voters indicates Mana Party leader Hone Harawira (below) could face a challenge in his Te Tai Tokerau electorate seat.

The full results of the nationwide TVNZ Marae Investigates DigiPoll survey of 1000 voters will be released this morning.

In results released to the Weekend Herald of 93 Te Tai Tokerau voters polled, 30 per cent said they would vote for Labour candidate Kelvin Davis, compared with 28.6 per cent for Mr Harawira.

About 22 per cent said they would vote for Maori Party candidate Waihoroi Shortland.

This blogger backs Kelvin Davis and on current polling for Labour he neds to win the seat to get back in. For the future of the Labour party he needs to be returned in Te Tai Tokerau.
