And the thieving continues un-abated…

[Imported from Whale Oil Beef Hooked on Blogger]

Treasury announced today that the Government operating surplus for the 11 months to May was $7.46 billion — $675 million ahead of the forecast in the May 19 budget.

Mainly attributed to higher than expected tax revenue (now theres a surprise), most of that being the $368 million of the banks.

It would have been even higher if it wasn’t for recognition of $307 million of Kyoto liability. One wonders what the surplus would be like without this stuff up.

"Auckland Mayor Dick Hubbard is a worry"

[Imported from Whale Oil Beef Hooked on Blogger]

Well, knock me down with a feather. Brian Rudman in his column this morning is scathing of Mayor DICK Hubbard. now even the lefty press are giving him a flogging.

Oh well Dick, you can’t make anyone happy…oops I meant everyone.

Aaron B. covers more on the Auckland City governance issues.

Big Tax Debate….Big Tax yawn

[Imported from Whale Oil Beef Hooked on Blogger]

I watched the big Tax debate on ONE tonight…..In desperate need of some action I also kept a weather-eye on Ultimate Force on UKTV.

Captain Smarmy was…..well…..smarmy. Rod Donald blathered on about lightbulbs….for pete’s sake. Some pommy git really sincerely believes that the gummint can be trusted to spend his money….yeah right!!!

Roger Kerr was sensible as usual and Andrew Little even though he is a Unionist at least talks sensibly.

DPF and John Key didn’t have much to say, but what they did say told.

And hey! what about the Maori party. Aaron B. summed it up by describing them as Te Act!!!

The one over riding thing that comes to mind is…How come the left think they can say that National is “spending” the surplus on Tax cuts?

Isn’t the real position that National et al are saying sorry but the Government has been taking too much, and we will stop taking too much by giving you tax cuts.

Over all the debate breaks down like this:

Tax and Spend Lobby

  • Labour
  • Unions
  • Pommy Git, who if brains were dynamite wouldn’t have enough to blow his nose.
  • Idiot girl who wants to give up tax cuts if her cost of living doesn’t go up duh!!! Cost of living would improve with more money in your pocket.

Cuts all round

  • National
  • ACT
  • Guy who wrote a letter to the editor
  • Business Round Table
  • All the so called experts
  • Maori Party
  • United Future
  • Progressives (who woulda thunk it)

No idea which planet we are on, let alone what a tax cut is

  • Greens

I say cut away….

Political Correctness gone Mad

[Imported from Whale Oil Beef Hooked on Blogger]

An Auckland Probation Officer who refused to move to the back with other women at a Maori farewell ceremony now has received a warning from her bosses at the Corrections Department.

This is political correctness out of control, yet another example how racism and sexism is worming is insidious way into New Zealanders lives under the watchful eye of Mrs Peter Davis and her government.

Cullen too Chicken to front

[Imported from Whale Oil Beef Hooked on Blogger]

Cullen has backed out of the Tax debate tonight on One and instead Mrs Davis has sent in the Smarmy Army head Captain Maharey.

This, perhaps, signals a change of tack for the Government, instead of a vitiolic attack of personalities from Cullen we will now get a smarm and grease offensive (and offensive it will be).

Hubbard deemed ho-hum

[Imported from Whale Oil Beef Hooked on Blogger]

A recent poll of Aucklanders shows that with only 23.8% of respondents saying he has done an excellent or good job and a massive 40.2% saying he has done a fair job Mayor Dick Hubbard has not made the impact that many Aucklandvoters expected.

Further 26.1% of respondents say he has done a poor or bad job.

What happened to the action-based leadership?

Hmmmm….Why the rush?, expense?, bother?

[Imported from Whale Oil Beef Hooked on Blogger]

Not one to support anything very much that utters from Winston mouth I have to agree on this one.

Seems that only 60 couples had applied for Civil Unions since April, with 15 of them being straight. That’s right 60 (SIXTY)….the number of “mainstream” marriages since April?
…anyone?
…anyone?
…no give up?

3400 (Three thousand four hundred)

Kinda makes a lie (yes, another one) of the importance of this legislation to the people this legislation was intended to support. YAWN

Another big waste of taxpayer money for bugger all of the population.

Accountants continue to be astounded at this Government account (lack of) principles. Cullen has some explaining to do on this one….can’t wait till the PREFU comes out.
