National ramps up web campaign with NTV

The National Party today launched three new internet initiatives as it continues to ramp up for the upcoming election campaign.

National TV at http://www.nationaltv.org.nz is a streaming web channel which can be used by voters to view National Party programmes, commercials and video speeches. National TV has been launched with the seven speeches from the National Party conference nine days ago, including the keynote address from Leader Don Brash.

“There has been a lot of commentary about National’s election year conference and the policies discussed there,” Campaign Manager Steven Joyce says. “National TV gives voters and supporters the chance to see our team in action for themselves.”

At the same time the Party has released a series of e-cards containing the popular National Party billboards and a succinct statement of the key policy plan that relates to each billboard. They are available on the main National Party webpage at http://www.national.org.nz/ecards.aspx.

Further, the Party has launched a new policy website http://www.buildroadsnow.org.nz which lays out National’s full plan for roading, including the pledge to invest all petrol taxes on the roads.

“The internet is becoming increasingly important for us as a way of directly talking with interested voters,” Mr Joyce says.

“Labour is out there trying to counter our platform with a lot of negative spin and even outright mis-representation of our positions. We are looking to reach past that filter and communicate directly with voters.

“It’s also a way for people to become directly involved in supporting the campaign. Supporters and voters can now email e-cards on various National Party policies to people they think might be interested, and spread the word without leaving their desks,” Mr Joyce says.
