More claptrap from Greenpeace

[Imported from Whale Oil Beef Hooked on Blogger]

Today while picking up the post at Pakuranga I was confronted, yes, confronted by two Greenpeace activists wanting me to sign up to some bullshit thing. One was wearing a Green Communist China hat with the Red Star, you know the one, stupid looking except on tough looking Chinese with knock-off Ak-47’s.

He thought it was pretty cool and went with his hand woven, made from the dags of some wool bearing animal, vest. Cool, that was until I took it upon myself to ask the dickhead if he thought he could do the same thing in the place where his “cool” hat came from. Nup didn’t think so, they tend to deal with idiots like him at the end of a Tank.

Turns out he was trying to mobilise support against a decision to allow Mighty River Power to fire up the mothballed Marsden B power plant in Whangarei with coal.

Greenpeace had this to say

“The decision is one giant leap backwards, back to outdated, polluting energy sources.”

“It is a terrible blow for the environment, for the local community and for efforts to tackle the world’s greatest threat – climate change,” climate campaigner Vanessa Atkinson said.

“With New Zealand set to overshoot our Kyoto greenhouse gas reduction targets, and scientists warning us that we have only 10 years to avoid climate catastrophe, it is ridiculous to allow the country’s first coal-fired power station in 25 years.”

“In this age of climate change, New Zealand does not need a great big, carbon-belching, toxic emitting power station.”

“We need clean renewable energy and a long term sustainable energy strategy to get us there.”

Well bully for them, we have literally tons of coal, like fucking heaps of it, it is exactly what we should be doing….burning it here.

With Greenpeace and their mates the Green Party in Parliament, New Zealand would not be able to use it’s natural resource instead exporting to China where they can burn it willy-nilly with no fear of having to meet any stupid Kyoto targets.

Meanwhile we all pay increased taxes to support a system invented by Enron!!!! As well as let the Chinese burn our coal basically for free!!!

How fucking stupid is that?

As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story.  And when he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.

They say that news is something that someone, somewhere, wants kept quiet.   Cam Slater doesn’t do quiet, and as a result he is a polarising, controversial but highly effective journalist that takes no prisoners.
