Proof positive that Police Crime Stats are a crock of shit

A top-level police report has revealed that 600 investigation files – one in five – are unassigned in the Auckland City district alone. Similar situations are likely elsewhere.

This is an indictment on the legacy of 6+ years of Labour’s fixation with revenue gathering policing. It certainly makes a lie of this statement from their achievements page;

Crime rate down to its lowest level since 1982

Anyone can get the crime rate down when you don’t even record crime, and that is exactly what is happening due to the intransigence of the police to investigate crime.

Michael Barnett, the Auckland Chamber of Commerce said on NewstalkZb this morning;

“Business knows that there is little point in going to Police because there is going to be no response”

This is the latest in a sorry exposure of the incompetence of the former Police Minister George Hawkins. It is an indictment on Labour and its policies and a failure for policing in general.

All crime needs to be treated with a Zero Tolerance midset, not just speeding and violent offences.

As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story. When he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.

They say that news is something that someone, somewhere, wants kept quiet. Cam Slater doesn’t do quiet and, as a result, he is a polarising, controversial but highly effective journalist who takes no prisoners.

He is fearless in his pursuit of a story.

Love him or loathe him, you can’t ignore him.
