They just worked this out??

Now you can’t tell me that they JUST worked out that one of New Zealand’s worst police district needs more police!

NZ Herald reports that Acting Commissioner of Police Steve Long acknowledged that Counties Manukau needed more staff.

“We are doing some work in that regard right now. Thirty-one more staff are coming this year as a result of business cases made to government and we will make more,” he said.

I hate to tell Mr Long this, but 31 more staff aren’t going to go very far. As the local city council worked out months ago, the Counties-Manukau police district is 160 officers short of the national average!

And that’s just the national average…

For those who don’t realise, the district HQ for Counties Manukau Police is right in the middle of former police minister George Hawkins electorate. The fact that the police minister’s own police district is short of the national average by 160 officers is a sure reflection of how serious Labour takes law and order.

As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story. When he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.

They say that news is something that someone, somewhere, wants kept quiet. Cam Slater doesn’t do quiet and, as a result, he is a polarising, controversial but highly effective journalist who takes no prisoners.

He is fearless in his pursuit of a story.

Love him or loathe him, you can’t ignore him.
