Sharples on Political Correctness

[Imported from Whale Oil Beef Hooked on Blogger]

There is hope – Pita Sharples seems to agree with National’s PC Eradication suggestions!

Tikanga Maori should either be done properly or not at all, and he would ask the committee to investigate. He had already asked departments about their use of powhiri.

“There are certain etiquette and behaviour that’s required, and if you don’t do that…just shake hands and do it the Western way. If you’re doing it just to be PC or if you’re doing it just to make your department look good or doing it to show off our Maori staff, then that’s a wrong reason.”

As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story.  And when he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.

They say that news is something that someone, somewhere, wants kept quiet.   Cam Slater doesn’t do quiet, and as a result he is a polarising, controversial but highly effective journalist that takes no prisoners.

He is fearless in his pursuit of a story.

Love him or loathe him.  But you can’t ignore him.
