Escape at Auckland Zoo

Just woke up to catch the 9am news briefs to hear that Auckland Zoo has had a recent escape from their elephant enclosure. Reports are saying that a rare species of baby elephants is on lose with fears for its safety and long-term viability.

The "ACT" sub-species is a rare species of baby elephants, but is not to be confused with the similar group known as the "Parekura". The escaped elephant answers to the name "Epsom" and is known for its prima-donna antics while on frequent visits to Wellington Zoo.

"Epsom" is now understood to be yearning for a place on a television programme called "Dancing with the Stars". However experts believe that such an appearance may be detrimental to the "ACT" sub-species long term survival and may make "Epsom" a target during the next hunting season in 2008.

Attached is a recent picture of "Epsom" for identification, courtesy of NZPA. Please contact Auckland Zoo for further info.

As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story.  And when he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.

They say that news is something that someone, somewhere, wants kept quiet.   Cam Slater doesn’t do quiet, and as a result he is a polarising, controversial but highly effective journalist that takes no prisoners.

He is fearless in his pursuit of a story.
