Judith Collins sets sights on Annette King

Judith Collins has been attacking Annette King over the parlous state of policing in Manukau, arguably the most crime ridden city in New Zealand.
The statistics are worrying despite the vaunted promise of extra police.
As it turns out Counties Manukau has 649 sworn officers. This is 24 less officers than two years ago. Also while 48 recruits were added in the district in March this year, there were 21 resignations and 25 transfers. Consequently in the Eastern Police District (Pakuranga, Howick, Clevedon, Botany, Otara) there is only one police officer for every 1,454 residents.
This compares to a national average of one officer for every 556 people. Counties-Manukau West (Mangere, Papatoetoe and Otahuhu) has a ratio of one officer to 1100 people.

As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story.  And when he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.

They say that news is something that someone, somewhere, wants kept quiet.   Cam Slater doesn’t do quiet, and as a result he is a polarising, controversial but highly effective journalist that takes no prisoners.

He is fearless in his pursuit of a story.

Love him or loathe him.  But you can’t ignore him.
