It was my wedding anniversary last Tuesday and to celebrate Mrs Whaleoil and I went to Jada Restaurant on Remuera Road.

The food was delicious and the service outstanding. I didn’t fancy any of the wine on the list and so asked if there was any others available. I was given a selection and chose a lonely Cow Merlot from the Christensen Estate on Waiheke Island.

My entree was a superb Carpaccio. I haven’t had a good carpaccio in a long time and this one was superb.

My main was an Eye Fillet cooked bleu in a red wine sauce and I chose the vegetables off another main to go with it.

The service at all times was perfect. Friendly and unobtrusive when needed and there when you needed it.

I would recommned this Restaurant to anyone.

Speaking of carpaccio, I remember being at Cibo (another fine restaurant – my favourite) on a date MANY years ago, with the then object of my affection ordering the beef cappucino as an entree.

I was caught in a quandry. I was tempted to order a salmon latte (in a bowl) to follow suit, but thought better of it. Justice was served (literally) when she was repulsed at the fact she was being served raw cured beef, and not a steak. I swapped my scallops with her carpaccio to keep the peace.
