New Zealands list of Terrorist Organisations

New Zealand has a law (the Terrorism Suppression Act 2002) which allows us to designate organisations as Terrorist Organisations.

Here is the list of Terror Organisations so designated by Helen Clark's government since passing this law.

Thats right, none are listed, oh there are plenty of individuals (Excel file) but surprisingly neither Ahmed Zaoui or Rayed Mohammed Abdullah are listed.

Contrast this with Australia and Canada ;

I have no real option other than to agree with Murray McCully that;
Has it crossed the Prime Minister’s mind that when Australia has used its post – September 11 anti-terrorist legislation to designate 88 separate terrorists or terrorist organisations, Canada has designated over 50, and the New Zealand Prime Minister has designated precisely none, she may just be giving the impression that New Zealand is a soft touch on matters of national security; if not, why not?
As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story. When he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.

They say that news is something that someone, somewhere, wants kept quiet. Cam Slater doesn’t do quiet and, as a result, he is a polarising, controversial but highly effective journalist who takes no prisoners.

He is fearless in his pursuit of a story.

Love him or loathe him, you can’t ignore him.
