Could be a good move

SFO scrapped in move against organised crime – 12 Sep 2007 – NZ Herald: New Zealand National news

The government is merging the SFO with the Police and creating a new Organised Crime Agency.

This is possibly a good move especially where combating money laundering is concerned. When I was selling Anti-Money Laundering software I visited the National Anti-Money Laundering guy at Police HQ. He was a complete plonker and had no idea about where to even begin. His thoughts at the time were that New Zealand didn’t really have a problem with money laundering and that the banking rules that were in place were effectively, oh and his Access database for analysis was top notch. Dick head, I hope he has now perfed.

Anyway, if the government equips this group with top notch tools then it should be effective.

As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story. When he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.

They say that news is something that someone, somewhere, wants kept quiet. Cam Slater doesn’t do quiet and, as a result, he is a polarising, controversial but highly effective journalist who takes no prisoners.

He is fearless in his pursuit of a story.
