Who to believe?

From Andrew Bolt;

Barack Obama:

Few challenges facing America and the world are more urgent than combating climate change. The science is beyond dispute and the facts are clear.

100 scientists:

With all due respect Mr. President, that is not true.

We, the undersigned scientists, maintain that the case for alarm regarding climate change is grossly overstated. Surface temperature changes over the past century have been episodic and modest and there has been no net global warming for over a decade now. After controlling for population growth and property values, there has been no increase in damages from severe weather-related events. The computer models forecasting rapid temperature change abjectly fail to explain recent climate behavior. Mr. President, your characterization of the scientific facts regarding climate change and the degree of certainty informing the scientific debate is simply incorrect.

Anger at purge of ACC unionists

Anger at purge of ACC unionistsA major rift has opened between unionists and ACC Minister Nick Smith after National purged union representatives from the board of the state-owned accident insurer. [Stuff Politics]

The unions are upset that Nick Smith has purged the ACC Board of union lickspittles.

One word for them springs to mind and it was uttered by Helen Clark in parliament. “Diddums!”

The other words that immediately spring to mind are “We won, you lost, eat that!”.

Tizard time-bomb ticking under Mt Albert

Tizard time-bomb ticking under Mt AlbertLabour’s “Tizard dilemma” is not going to resolve itself, with Judith Tizard hanging on to the ticket that will get her back to Parliament. The cause of the problem is the Mt Albert byelection: if list MP Phil Twyford wins the… [NZ Herald Politics]

Patrick Gower exposes the upgrading of the Tizard Dilemma to a Time Bomb.

Unfortunately for Labour Tizard hasn’t really helped the situation with her comments to Patrick.Ms Tizard said Labour would be silly to buy into the “Tizard dilemma” and try and keep her out.

“If there is not a place for a 53-year-old woman who has been in elected positions for 26 of her 31 years, I guess I would want to know what the problem was.”

Ms Tizard said she had not yet been approached to stand aside, nor had she gone to the party to ask if there was a problem.

She said she was enjoying life outside Parliament and was astonished at the “craziness” of speculation about her possible return.

“I am gardening, I am spending time with my friends and family. I am reading, I am writing. I have just gone and bought a lampshade. I have a life.”

Riiiiight, So The Tiz thinks that the demographic for Barren Old Biddies with no work experience is under represented. She just can’t stop telling lies though, as if she has any friends, no one believes that, even The Standard is openly mocking her.

It was a joke

Come on, you didn’t really think I would go soft and take a government position did you? Or quit blogging? Surely you didn’t think that National would do something sensible in mt Albert like run Don Brash? There also isn’t a Dairy and Fast Food vendors association for so thre wouldn’t be any appointments there. Though I am not sure that the Worth sacking was a joke….might have to wait on that one.

Today is April Fool’s Day and boy some of you are just hysterical. THe emails and voicemails feature some very powerful and connected people who fell for it.

Plenty have pranks have been played;

  • DPF teased us all with the suggestion that Cullen was the going to be the new Governor of the Reserve Bank
  • The NZ Herald had a story about Microsoft buying Apple
  • Cameron Brewer, the nice guy from the Newmarket Business Association put out a press release calling for Auckland to go one step further and declare themselves a republic.

“We’re effecting advocating for a two-city model for the region – the Super City of Auckland and Newmarket.

The Newmarket Business Association had advised Local Government Minister and local MP Rodney Hide of its intentions. Mr Brewer has just returned from a study trip to Whangamomona – a remote Taranaki ghost town that has actively promoted its constitutional independence over the past 20 years.

  • But perhaps the best April Fool’s trick was the done by The Standard where they annouced that they were outsourcing their infrastructure offshore and paying good money to American Corporates for the hosting of their site. They even bagged local hosting companies. It surely must have been a joke because Lynne, the guy with the girls name, has pulled the post. Surely they wouldn’t abandon Kiwi workers and businesses over few paltry shekels.

That's it

This will be my last ever post on Whale Oil Beef Hooked. It has been a blast. I have taken many scalps but alas due to a pending announcement I will no longer be blogging. It would place me in a terrible position of conflict of interest to do so.

So folks, this is the last post. Thanks for all your support.

Worth to be sacked, Brash to stand in Mt Albert

Insiders of the National Party have today revealed to WOBH that Richard Worth will be sacked by lunchtime. He has embarrassed the prime Minister and acted like a complete tool and therefore the prime Minister has lost confidence in him.

The same insiders are also telling me of a deal that has been done over Mt Albert. Melissa Lee will drop her interest in the seat in order to replace Richard Worth as Minister of internal Affairs. Ravi Musuku will be given a prime government board placement in order to likewise drop his interest and Don Brash will accept the nomination to stand for National in Mt Albert.

The news that Don Brash will stand is fantatsic and will bust that contest wide open. You would be a fool to stand against Don Brash now.

Labour/EPMU lap-blog abandons NZ

Just hours after accusing Air NZ of hating Kiwi workers the Labour/EPMU lap-blog, The Standard has abandoned New Zealand themselves.

After being caught taking hosting from the Labour Party despite saying they were “independent” they appear to have fallen on hard times and decamped to cheaper foreign offshore hosting.

This is highly hypocritical of them after repeatedly calling for Kiwi jobs for Kiwi workers and generally attacking anyone or thing that even suggested outsourcing to overseas. They have now effectively outsourced their hardware infrastructure and robbed hard working Kiwi hosting companies of work. They have exported themselves.

The Standard, in a classic case of utter hypocrisy is now pouring Kiwi Dollars into large American Corporations.

Lynn (the guy with the girls name) even runs down hard-working Kiwi hosting companies in his New Zealand Sucks post.

Finally it is with huge irony I note that their new host is Bluehost.com…..What’s the matter boys wouldn’t PinkoHost take you on?

Whale Oil Beef Hooked is proud to support local hosting companies.

Charles Chauvel is Gay

Charles Chauvel is a gay trollEveryone knows that Charles Chauvel is gay, today he proved that he is also gay, as in lame.

Cowboy Chuck Chauvel has got so desperate to make an impact he has taken to trolling the Facebook pages of National Ministerial Advisors to try and find stories.

Gerry flubbed the answer too, he should have stood there and declared that Earth Hour was a fraud along with Global Warming instead of his politically correct, namby-pamby answer.

The key thing here though is this. In National you don’t have to be a “believer” to work for a minister. In fact you can hold contrarian views. I know that this is unheard of inside Labour offices, it is almost tantamount to treason to disagree with the Member of Parliament.

In National opposing views can quite happily co-exist in the same party, branch, office, even a minister’s office. it is healthy to have differing opinions.

Charles Chauvel should stop trolling and start acting like the golden boy he would like to think he is.

Judith “Crusher” Collins delivers yet another bashing of Clayton Cosgrove who seems intent on proving two things, a) that he is woefully inept and b) he wants to denigrate the Police force.
