Cunners cops a ball kicking

Cunners cops a ball kickingI wasn’t overly enamoured with the Queens Birthday Honours list but there was one award that deserves a mention.

It looks like Craig Foss & Chris Tremain have run up and punted Cunners square in the balls. Repeatedly.

Kevin Atkinson is one of the most generous and supportive people in the Hawkes Bay community. He is hugely respected, so much so when the DHB board was sacked the public meeting set up by the National MPs ended up with a huge number of people standing outside. Somehow, all five of the Hawkes Bay councils managed to agree to fund a court case against the sacking.

Cunliffe was foolish to think that  Hawkes Bay would support his political appointments over people like Kevin who was known for decades of service. It showed a severe lack of political judgment from a man who aspires to be leader. His chances of winning votes in Hawkes Bay will be permanently tarnished by siding with bureaucrats over people highly respected in the Hawkes Bay community.

The Kiwiblog archives of the HBDHB saga shows just how terrible wwere Cunners actions, which were always about the defence of Annette “Married to the Mob” King and her dodgy husband, and not about any governance issues.

As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story. When he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.

They say that news is something that someone, somewhere, wants kept quiet. Cam Slater doesn’t do quiet and, as a result, he is a polarising, controversial but highly effective journalist who takes no prisoners.

He is fearless in his pursuit of a story.
