Five Fingers Feeley’s job on the line?

“Five Fingers” Adam Feeley’s job may be on the line after Judith Collins, the minister responsible for the Serious Fraud Office referred the matter tot he State Services Commission.

The head of the Serious Fraud Office is facing an employment investigation for celebrating criminal charges against Rod Petricevic by serving to staff champagne belonging to Bridgecorp directors.

And a legal expert says it is disappointing to see such behaviour from a government department responsible for such high-level investigations.

A spokesman for Serious Fraud Office Minister Judith Collins said she had referred SFO head Adam Feeley’s actions to the State Services Commissioner, his employer.

Prominent lawyer Nigel Hampton, QC, said last night that Mr Feeley’s actions were “not appropriate at all”.

“A, to celebrate as it were steps along the way and then to publicise it is not appropriate. And B, to do it with property that arguably isn’t yours anyhow seems to me to be rather questionable in its own right. Just because it’s left over or sitting in someone’s office doesn’t make it yours,” he said.

“This is supposed to be an agency that is created to uphold certain principles as to appropriate ownership.”

Mr Hampton said the incident had potential to harm the SFO’s court case against Bridgecorp.

“In the hands of a capable questioner, [the incident] can make them look rather embarrassed and lessen their credibility.

“I think it’s disappointing. You wouldn’t expect, part way through a task, the Commissioner of Police inappropriately celebrating a step along the way in an investigation.”

Five Fingers Adam FeeleyIt is highly inappropriate that the boss of the countries top law enforcement organisation misappropriated the assets, no matter how small, of the shareholders, receivers and liquidators of Bridgecorp, then skited about it to staff and then rubbed those charged noses in the fact by quaffing the stolen assets at a party.

The problem Five Fingers Feeley has is that he doesn’t think he did anything wrong.

This is the guy who is in the paper and news more than tv celebrities and boasting all the time about what his agency is going to do. Compare the incidence of Adam Feeley in the news with that of new Police Commissioner Peter Marshall. The SFO regularly leaks details of investigations and seems to conduct itself as though they are the Untouchables. This case just highlights the culture that exists and has been allowed to fester at the SFO.

Five Fingers Feeley might have got away with this sort of behaviour under CHris Finlayson or Simon power but I doubt he will get off scot free under The Crusher.

“Touchy” Feely has rather been a naughty boy, acts like this sort of make him not a lot better than the crims he’s supposed to be guarding us from.
Next time he feels like doing something like shouting from on high remember it’s a long way down from up there, Elliot Ness would be so disappointed.

If a cop pinched a bottle of champers from a house when on duty, he would be fired. So would a fireman. If I took it from a frdge, I would be charged. Feeley is just an arrogant petty thief who was stupid enough to broadcast his theft. He has no moral authority  or credibility now in anything he does.

yip – its one to run an agency that operates at the highest level of the law, but to think you are above the law! he has taken property that clearly belongs to the receivers – no matter how small the amount is. this is a big f**k up on his part

Feeley is a goose with the Gosset, but has otherwise been doing a good job. Crusher should give him a good hard barracking with her lungs, and them quietly tell him to get on with putting the Bridgecorp crooks away.

However, in Feeley’s favour is that he did not pinch the Gosset when he was wit the SFO. Rather, it is a misdemeanor he committed when he worked for Eden Park Board, so I believe.

Wasn’t even good piss – one bottle of poor drink between all of them – thanks for the smell !

  • Hammer

Just a beat up;  let him get on with putting the BAD GUYS away for long periods.

For goodness sake! It was a bottle of worhtless plonk left in an abandoned office! If the receivers had wanted it, they would have kept it. To say Feely stole it is a pretty long bow to draw. And how the State Services Commissioner is going to be able to do anything about that is beyond me, since he wasnt even employed by the SFO at the time.
Storm in a teacup is an understatement.

Make him replace it and give it personally to Rod Petricivec with his apologies. Nasty rotten egg all over his face then move on. SFO can do SFA he wasnt even employed by them at the time but some public penance is advisable.

You can be dismissed for taking a blank DVD.

    This is no different.

Unfortunately Hampton, QC is absolutely correct and the last thing that the public needs is to give the Bridgecorp legal team any leeway whatsoever in further delaying Petricevich’ appearance in front of a judge and jury.

…and that is the only reason I agree that he should not have done what he did.

If not for that – the man and his team caught a scalp, there is no better way to celebrate than partaking of the spoils.

Agent, unfortunately it wasnt Petrecivic’s to be given back.I believe it was Colin McCloy’s or Kevin Newson’s. Like I say, if they’d wanted it, they would have taken it with them and auctioned it, like they usually do with other office effects.

  • Mickrodge

Frankly if it was Petricevech’s booze then it was “effectively” stolen anyway. I wouldn’t really care if Feeley had bowled round to Rod’s & cleaned out his fridge & liquor cabinet.

Feeley should know better than to boast about it though & that’s what Crusher will say when she balls his arse out for it.

    Move along…nothing to see here.

I don’t think it’s a hanging offense – but it is an extremely bad look and someone in that position should know better.
