Mickey Mouse for East Coast Bays Poll

This is how to run a poll that makes Mickey Mouse a front runner against Murray McCully in East Coast Bays.

1. For your party vote, have you decided who you will be voting for in the election?

2. Which party do you currently intend to vote for?

3. Have you heard of the Mickey Mouse Party?

4. Have you heard of Mickey Mouse?

Participants were read a brief preamble to provide context: ‘Mickey Mouse is the leader of the Mickey Mouse Party of New Zealand. He is a mouse with high personal ethics and unlike Murray McCully has never worn a moustache. Mickey has the endorsement of Helen Clark, the Dalai Lama, Margaret Thatcher, Chuck Norris, Robyn Malcolm and Ronald Reagan for the East Coast Bays electorate”.

5. If Mickey were to stand in as a candidate in your electorate, what would be the likelihood that you would vote for Mickey to be your member of parliament (on a scale of 1 = definitely; 2 = likely; 3 = neutral; 4 = unlikely and 5 = very unlikely)?

Those who identified they were neutral or unlikely to vote for Mickey were asked:

6 . Who do you intend to vote for?

As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story. When he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.

They say that news is something that someone, somewhere, wants kept quiet. Cam Slater doesn’t do quiet and, as a result, he is a polarising, controversial but highly effective journalist who takes no prisoners.

He is fearless in his pursuit of a story.
