Why we need to remove payroll protection for union dues

I wonder what union members think about their union spending up large on an election ad that is nothing more than an “eat the rich” fit of rage. Labour, through Darien Fenton is of course promoting the video, proving once again that labour is the nasty party.

It is high time that National proposed a law that would remove payroll protection for union dues and make unions go collect their money themselves rather than have the employers do it for them. Union dues should go towards welfare and support initiative not political campaigns.

You don’t need much more of a reason to move to protect members funds than this video:

Remmeber too that teh NZCTU is a big supporter of MMP. They say in the video to Vote for Change on 26 November, please do that in the referendum. If unions like the NZCTU support MMP then that is reason enough to Vote for Change in our electoral system.

As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story. When he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.

They say that news is something that someone, somewhere, wants kept quiet. Cam Slater doesn’t do quiet and, as a result, he is a polarising, controversial but highly effective journalist who takes no prisoners.

He is fearless in his pursuit of a story.
