A Threat to Humanity

No, not global warming or climate change. No, not a mutant virus. Nor some sort of other contagion or even AIDS. The “threat to humanity” we must all combat apparently is Gay Marriage.

Pope Benedict says gay marriage is one of several threats to the traditional family that undermines “the future of humanity itself”.

The pope made some of his strongest comments against gay marriage in a new year address to the diplomatic corps accredited to the Vatican in which he touched on some economic and social issues facing the world today.

He told diplomats from nearly 180 countries that the education of children needed proper “settings” and that “pride of place goes to the family, based on the marriage of a man and a woman”.

“This is not a simple social convention, but rather the fundamental cell of every society. Consequently, policies which undermine the family threaten human dignity and the future of humanity itself,” he said.

You know what? I’ll start listening to the Pope when his priests stop buggering little boys.

  • The pope is a twat and needs a good kicking

  • Kosh103

Given this Popes history with ignoring boy buggering I would suggest he keeps his mouth shut on what consatutes a big threat.

    • Troy

I’d agree on that – ‘being holier than thou’ can be a dangerous stance when surrounded by those who perpetrate these crimes.

    • Paul Rain

Given your history of supporting teachers, who rape kids at a far higher rate than priests ever have, you should probably keep your mouth shut on the Pope.

      • Kosh103

Could you please point out where I have done that, otherwise (full well knowing that I have never said or done what you claim) retract your lie.

      • Paul Rain

So you’re saying you support teachers- a small minority of whom rape kids- in general, but you don’t support priests- a very, very small minority of whom rape kids- because they’re all kiddie fiddlers; despite the fact that any individual teacher is more likely to rape a kid.

      • Kosh103

What the hell are you one about freak??

    • Thorn

Kosh, if I throw a stick, will you go away?

      • Kosh103

If I call you an idiot will you run away crying?

    • Thorn

Someone like Annette King and Darren Hughes perhaps?

  • Groans

It’s important to have standards and to have a go at achieving them, much more desirable than what we have now.  I’m not a catholic but that Pope seems like a pretty good bloke.

    • Kosh103

Sooooo, in your mind what makes a good bloke is someone who pretends child abuse isnt happening under his watch?

      • Agent BallSack

Kosh in all respect, how does saying the pope is a good bloke affiliate yourself with child abusers? Thats like saying the (misguided in my view) folk who sponsor African children, prop up Mugabe. The Pope has inherited a poisonous chalice.

    • Anonymous

This “pretty good bloke” spent the last 25 years before he became pope covering up the excesses of his cabal of paedophile priests, the little weasel is in it up to his beady little eyeballs.
And yet the faithful lap his shit up with a spoon, unfuckingbelievable.

      • Agent BallSack

I stand corrected of course. All major ranked Archbishops downwards know of the rank paedophilia existing in the church. How to cut off the head without killing the serpent has always been the overriding issue for them.

      • Paul Rain

Noooo.. please, don’t expose how the Jews run the media and the Freemasons control our government. A man has to have some trust left.

  • As a christian orientated person I am going to write on this too when I get a couple of child free days to myself in a few days. This article made me furious – oh the audacity of the Pope, the leader of the church with the most abhorrent child molestation record, claiming that gay couples are a threat to humanity. What bullshit. Humans are a threat to humanity.

And what does he mean by marriage? Anyone can get married & stay married, but only a good marriage is good for kids. Longevity & a happy marriage seem to be mutually exclusive terms. Out of examples I have come across I would say my parents have a great marriage (& they have  had their dark days) & Ian & Mary Grant have a great marriage (who have also had their dark days). So that’s only 2 examples.

Bottomline marriage is useless if people cheat, fight, abuse, ignore, shut out & then get divorced. And this has what has always happened and will continue to happen..unless we change/stop being human!

    • Agent BallSack

Isn’t the main issue with the Catholic Church the vow of celibacy? Look at churches that allow clergy to be married and they have a fraction of the child abuse that occurs amongst churches that have decreed it a sin.

EDIT: Also is it the failure of the church to recognise that humans are sexual as well as spiritual creatures?

      • No idea – not catholic and from what I have gathered it is a church that has MANY issues! Failure to recognise that humans are sexual shouldn’t mean sexual abuse, yet where that church is concerned, it does. Or at least it appears that way!

      • Gazzaw

Catholic priests don’t have a monopoly. David Capill plus teachers & youth leaders whose names have long disappeared from my memory.

      • Paul Rain

The real problem the Catholic Church faces is that many of its priests grew up in the sick culture of the 60’s, which caused many of them to be sick with the diseases of socialism and baby-raping.

Let’s not forget that it took until the mid 90’s for the fawning gay-lib groups to realize that the North American Man-Boy Love Association made their cause look bad to those nasty heterosexists. The Catholics just made the mistake of making an attempt to change feral child predators with the love of Jesus. The baby-rapers should have been shot, but back in reality, the worst that would have happened to them if every Catholic bishop in the world had turned over every allegation of child sex abuse to the authorities would have been a few psychological evaluations and perhaps a couple of months of prison time.

The church is not the problem- it’s the culture.

The great question the human condition.
The biggest threat to humanity is religion with someone purporting to represent a higher being, of which there is no proof of existence and is based purely on faith. Given that just about every major conflict in human history has a religion at its base somewhere, you would have to ask why. Accepting that there is some greater authorities for good and bad and that man would not stand for evil and would actively work to stamp it out. If I was an evil entity it would be wise to hide from open view somewhere, religion would fit the bill perfectly.
Looking back at history and how it likes to repeat itself, it never ceases to amaze, at what man is capable of doing to his fellow man. Even in the last 100 years there is no shortage of examples, the difference is in how good (efficient) we have got at it.

    • We should go to war and eradicate all religious types to
end religious conflicts, starting with the pope and his bum boys

    • Groans

WW1 and WW11 were not started by religious conflict. It is fair to say that wars are the result of political views whether inspired by religion or atheism.  Banning religion wouldn’t result in non-conflicting political views and warfare.

    • Thorn

No wars have ever been fought exclusively on the grounds of religious belief. Warmongers use causes of every description to rally support and justify action but the drivers are fundamentally economic.

      • Paul Rain

Well, there’s all of Mohammed’s battles to exterminate Jews. But obviously they don’t count, because violence isn’t part of Islam.

  • Ah, I see this is the original post.  I’ll add my comment here as well.

Pope Benedict never mentions “gay marriage” explicitly in his speech.
That’s been extrapolated by journalists and seized upon by the NZ media
as one of the few things the Pope says that’s considered worth
    reporting.

Furthermore, the abuse of boys by male priest is a homosexual
phenomena.  Something that has been looked at intensely, condemned over
and over again (the Pope calls men who do this, “filth”), and policies
have been put in place to weed out potential priests with homosexual
tendencies in order that those who become priests can live chaste lives
without having overwhelming urges that seem to over come them.   Not
every one can become a eunuch for the Kingdom.

    • Willsomers101

Priests have abused young girls as well, what category are they ?

      • Sex perverts.

      • Paul Rain

A tiny minority of the very small number of baby-rapers who have infiltrated the Papist system- which is interesting, given females have a slight majority in Western societies.

  • Daniel

His Nazi’s were probably a bigger threat to humanity
