Regional TV knows more than the advertising industry?

I find this a little hard to believe – that the reason why Stratos went under was because the advertising industry “had never got its head around cumulative figures“.

It may well be that Stratos TV never got their head around the fact that their shows weren’t generating enough advertising support because they simply didn’t have enough viewers.

Perhaps if their political content wasn’t moderated by people as unappealing as Martyn Bradbury, they might have a better chance of generating support from people with discretionary spending – i.e. centre-right viewers. But why would anyone centre-right want to watch a TV show with the main host so offensively negative about people who believe in conservatism or centre-right politics?

There might be a lesson in there somewhere.

I would say it’s quite important to be exposed to many different viewpoints, whether right or left wing.

I read something recently that said the proliferation of news on the internet means you can tune in only to those sites that support your own views. The theory is that too much of one thing leads to extremism.

Peter – Bradbury’s viewpoint is hatred of the centre-right, not a love of his own left-wing views.

You pick on one show; we received excellent value for money. No public funding. How do you compete with state funded broadcasters?
Don’t even get me started on the Millions wasted on Maori broadcasting.
No I miss the variety of interesting programs.

Interesting programmes on regional TV? Oxymoron much?

But Al-Jazeera! The Arab Spring! That worked well! Now Arab countries have all the freedoms of 1920’s European countries!

Except they don’t even have the freedom we have now.
