He forgot to mention the Italians trained them to fight

Argentina does not pose threat to Falklands, says Philip Hammond the UK Defence Secretary…he forgot to mention that the Italians trained them to fight:

The Falkland Islands do not face a “current credible military threat” from Argentina, Defence Secretary Philip Hammond said.

Mr Hammond stressed that Britain had “no desire or intention to increase the heat” surrounding the issue.

Philip Hammond said there was no need to increase the British military deployment to the islands despite an increase in tensions between Britain and Argentina.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Falklands conflict and concerns have risen over the increasingly hostile rhetoric emerging from Argentine politicians.

Mr Hammond stressed that Britain had “no desire or intention to increase the heat” surrounding the issue.

The Argentinians have suffered from the 8 defaults they have had since WW2 (and the fact that they only very reluctantly entered the war in the last few days and sheltered heaps of Nasties after the war.)
No one will lend them money! So, their military equipment is old and worn out.  I got chased off a Sherman tank once – I was looking at it as an antique – they were looking at it as a major military asset.  I didn’t like to say that we use them as tourist attractions.God help the Argies if they do declare was on Britain and try to invade the Falklands.  My guess is that the UK is much more powerful now and they are much weaker than in the earlier conflict.
