Is Rick Right? Ctd

Rick Santorum can be pretty hateful too.

Comparing homosexuality to “man-on-dog” sex:

“If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual [gay] sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything. Does that undermine the fabric of our society? I would argue yes, it does. … That’s not to pick on homosexuality. It’s not, you know, man on child, man on dog, or whatever the case may be. It is one thing.” (AP interview, April 7, 2003)

The right to adultery ?.- I hope so.
So he thinks the police can bust in if they suspect a person is committing adultery – which is classed along with  bestiality

  • Andrei

You don’t have the  ” right” to anything.

The only  ” rights” you have are those given to you by those who have the most muscle.

You are fortunate to have grown up in a culture with a Christian heritage which has as an underlying philosophy the concept that men have been given by God free will and self determination and it is the duty of Christians to preserve that for all.

How far that self determination extends and can extend is always a matter of debate and always will be in a society of free men.

Given that in today’s world the average person thinks almost entirely about their  rights and entitlements  and not much at all about their  duties and responsibilities  the whole structure that underlies our our freedom is teetering on the edge of collapse.

yep – ask not what your country can do for you… but what size the hand outs the Labour Party will give you…

Christian heritage  has given us nothing ! The bible loved slavery.
When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are.  If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again.  Exodus 21:7-11 NLT) So sex slavery was fine for the bible  and for all those who believe its every word is from God.

I think the pasage is an attempt to regulate slavery – an existing and accepted practice – rather than endorse it.  Much of the Bible is historical record and presentism should be avoided when reading passages such as this one.  You need to come up with some better arguments against Christianity rather than cherry-picking passages such as this from the Bible.

      • Hakim of phut

Its either the full literal truth of its not!
If the bibles words on other practices were the basis for making them illegal, the bibles condoning and promoting slavery was used as a strong arguement  against
As for cherry picking, there are numerous other references to condoning and promoting slavery or sex slavery of your own daughter.

I would not waste your breath Hakim, the bible/koran/talmud  says whatever the religious want it to say, they highlight or ignore that whichever suits their purpose at any given moment.

      • Andrei

The Bible is full of wisdom

Slavery is with us today – the people with money and power tell the people who don’t have it what to do.

      • Yawn

Only the fundies try to push the Bible as the full literal truth.  Try not to paint all Christians with one broad brushstroke.  FYI, I am not a Christian nor religious.

“I would not waste your breath Hakim, the bible/koran/talmud  says whatever the religious want it to say, they highlight or ignore that whichever suits their purpose at any given moment.”This is as true of the religious as it is of the non-religious.

I don’t quite follow his logic. I’m sure it makes sense in his twisted mind but to me, he’s just a sick bastard.

Didn’t Rick Santorum just say that homosexuality is not the same as “man on child” or “man on dog”?
