Plunket V. Kelly

Finally an interview from someone who is prepared to challenge the self-interested rhetoric from union leaders.

Play of the Day Sean Plunket – and it’s only lunchtime!

In that interview Helen Kelly promises further illegal action at the port by the union.

It’s sent the ZB listeners into a frenzy, and Sean is aghast…they really are shameless. Helen Kelly is crying crocodile tears about privacy when she has used the deaths of three workers at Tauranga mercilessly to push her agenda.

Helen Keller – Blind as f’ck to reality.

  • Michael

    gawd she is a troll

  • LesleyNZ

Helen Kelly is fighting to save the relationship between the Labour Party and her Union movement. She should be encouraging the striking workers to apply for new jobs. They will be the ones who will be the losers in the end – not Helen Kelly. Bottom line – Change has to happen at the Ports of Auckland – otherwise they might as well close down.  Think there were a lot of imports to the AKLD march last Saturday.Blah blah blah Helen Kelly. Go back to Wellington! You are the one who should shut up. She is sounding more like her dad every day!

  • Scanner

She doesn’t like it when someone confronts her does she, best part was when he called her Helen Clark, sounds like her and the “she beast” both went to the same school.

  • BJ

She is indoctrinated and brainwashed and a closed book. The MUNZ leaders are leading the lemmings off the cliff. It is insane.

A plea to any Union member that wants to work for POA – turn your back on this union dictatorship now! Save yourself or your family will suffer and you will never forgive yourself.

  • Bob

Love the “Helen Clark” Freudian slip. Says it all really … and exactly what the rest of the country is thinking: ‘not another bloody Helen telling us how to run our lives’.

    •  No more than the current government is….

      • Markm

and how , Neil , are tyne Government telling you to run your lives.
Is it to do with telling you what your obligations are when receiving taxpayers money to pay your bills.
        what is it?

      • johnbronkhorst

Why neil…what kind of light bulbs has this govt. TOLD you to buy?

      • LesleyNZ

Neil please give examples to back up what you say.

  • Beagle

    Ouch. Plunket -1 Kelly – 0

    •  If that had been a baseball game, they would have invoked the mercy rule after five innings; Plunket absolutely destroyed her.

  • johnbronkhorst

With ALL business’s ..it is NOT how large you are, what you have to sell or how good you are at what you do. That will make you successful over time. It is the speed at which you adapt to the changing environment. SPEED of change is the key. If you make a decission and it is wrong, or not getting the results you require…change it. The union here, wants things to stay as they were in the 70’s, things have already changed around them and they have been slowly losing their jobs. POA want to change to catch up lost ground and move forward. There has been such slow movement for change at POA that it is now critical that they change quickly!

  • Vij

She is a waste of time.  Time she got a real job.

    • Charlie the farmer

No No no leave her there!! She has managed to ruin other unions she became involved with, couple of weeks and MUNZ will cease to exist because of her. She doing a better job of f#@king them up than if the govt baned unions under pain of death.

      • Vij

Charlie, you are absolutely correct.  Thanks

  • Johno1234

Yech. Is she trying to out-awful Bomber Bradbury?

    • LesleyNZ

Bomber – yes forgot about him –  where has he been lately?

  • thor42

I listened to just over the 7-minute mark. Couldn’t take any more of the BULLSHIT from this union bitch.

  • Liberty

This is all just a training ground For Helen Kelly

The fun will start when the union tells

The labour party. They now have a new leader.

  • Mickrodge

Helen Kelly to roll Shearer…I like it.

The CTU Financial Accounts for 2011 show that they lost $114k after tax for 2010 and 2011.

It is hard to decipher at this stage but there is large funding by the Department of Labour and ACC for projects in their P & L.

The Health and Safety project looks like they received nearly $1.5m in revenue over the last two years. The notes to the accounts reference Dept of Labour and ACC.

Thankfully the accounts have good descriptions so will be able to analyse later.

    So the point is?

Three Union’s NZCTU, Unite (2010) and MUNZ have reported combined losses of $800k in the 24 months prior to their 2011 Balance dates.

So here is the question and it is a business one?

Any business that records losses needs to at some stage re-structure.

At what point does this re-structuring start and who will get affected? I guess the argument would be that the Unions need to be efficient, live within their means and be competitive.

Does sound like what most businesses do on a daily basis or am I just so wrong!

    • In Vino Veritas

Nice work as always Owl. Just had a quick squiz. What do you reckon about the monies held over for future projects (ie provided by government departments) see note 7. $949K in 2010 which makes a bloody big hole in their balance sheet with net assets of only $1.17m? In 2011 the number has reduced to $618K on $1.07m net assets. If I was the labour dept and ACC I’d be looking twice at paying them in advance. And heaven forbid, if the CTU went under, Phillip Ure will be calling them “ratbags” ripping off the working class taxpayer!!

      • Euan Rt

Owl, how are they covering the 114k loss? Are they refinancing or do they have capital investment that is being eroded?

    • Paddles83

That’s why you have the small breakaway union from the CTU  in Canterbury called “NUPE” National Union of Public Employees doing very well looking after their members.

      • Owl

Awesome news paddle tell us more. Are you involved? Why exactly did they split?

    • Bunswalla

They should make the union staff redundant and go to an outsource contract model. Should definitely save a lot of money and increase productivity.

    • Owl

Not sure was going to analyze later tonight. I am wanting to know the funding model as well. It is full of project money. Feel free to have a look yourself.

    • Vij

Wow, facts and more facts. Why has no one tried to correct you? Oh yes, because it’s all facts.

  • Really cant believe the lies

Since when does a lawful picket stop people wearing balaclavas and intimidating women? Gee she is a winner alright. I would love to meet up with her for a cup of tea.

  • i’ve been told plunkett lost his mojo when he walked out the door of radio new zealand..

..(and that search parties have been sent out..but to no avail..)

..given his appearances on that abysmal current affairs show on tv3..

..and his rush limbaugh imitation here..

..i see no reason to doubt that tale of mojo-lost…

Then it must have pained you greatly to hear the great orator Helen Kelly sway the masses with her eloquent assertions Phil.

Quote of the day “you’re getting quite aggressive Sean” after being party to verbal abuse and prevention of lawful activity.

    • Bunswalla

Well Phillip I heard you on the radio last week and all I can say is you’ve got a great voice for blogging! Interesting though, you said exactly the same crap on the radio as you do on WO’s blog. You probably say the same crap on your own blog but none of us here would ever know.

      •  aww..!..buns..!…

..i was on a dodgy portable landline thing….

..you should hear me mic-ed in a studio..

        ..whoar..!..eh..?

        ..didya like the song tho..?

        ..a little ripper..isn’t it..?

        [email protected]

      • “.. none of us here would ever know…”

        too true..too true…

        ..and about so much..eh..?

..i respect you for yr honesty around rightwing failings..tho’..

        [email protected]

      • Bunswalla

No Phillip, a thin watery reedy voice is going to find its way through any comms, even though I know you’re torn between the thrill of being recognised (by somebody!) and the certain knowledge you sound like a twat.

    • Vij

Evidence, please. Or are you just making up stuff again

  • Duncan

Go Sean. Excellent interview, even when H3 tried to make it personal.

  • Beenthere

So they reckon, they are going to run the picket until the day they are laid off at the very least!

    • Gazzaw

Let’s wait until winter sets in & see how their resolve is then.

  • Salacious T Crumb

Most disturbing was the her continual refusal to admit that they were preventing workers entering the port from exercising their rights. Like a recalcitrant child “its all about me, me, me…”

  • Chris

All she ever said is We WANT this, we WANT that. Well Helen you can’t always get what you What.(Rolling Stones). And she doesn’t fucking listen to the othersides point of view. Brianwashed like Helen Clark was in South America.

  • leocat

You have to admire Helen Kellys spunk to get up there and argue an unwinnable argument, the irony is that whilst I think she has a modicum of intelligence I still don’t get whyher ilk just don’t get it…
Imagine what she could have been had she put her zeal to real use like that of medicine, or  Business owner or even a dock worker – she could have been the best little forklift driver in town!

    • Blokeintakapuna

well – she’d be much better as a prostitute down at the wharfes…. except mutton dressed as lamb?….

Ohh hang on – there’s something else to add to this to make it real witty…

That’s it! No one would want her – except maybe on those slave labour fishing boats – little Malaysian man love her loonnngggg time! But he only got $5…

      Bwhahaa

      • Euan Rt

        should be change then.

      •  such classy people live in takapuna…

..usually having conned/thieved their way down from glenfield..

..but you can take the boy out of glenfield..etc..etc..

        .eh..?

..takapuna..home of car-dealers and spivs of all stripes..

        [email protected]

      • Euan Rt

Phil, if you are going to creep up on me like this, can you please brush your teeth.

      • Salacious T Crumb

Spivs? Sure you dont mean Mods & Rockers there Phil?
        Pretty spot on nonetheless….

      • Travdog

Doesn’t matter how fancy you make the wrapper, a block of lard is a block of lard.

  • Say

    She is a professional liar.

  • Killjoy

Is it just me or did Sean keep cutting her off?
I don’t listen to heaps of radio, maybe he does it to everyone?

If not- and dont get me wrong cause I despise a lot of what these unions have been doing- then isnt fair to let them speak and have a fair argument where each get to speak?

Once again, is that just his style?
