Ratu Inoke said international relations is about building cordial relations between countries and countries work on mutual cooperation in areas of common interest.

He said re-building diplomatic relations between Fiji and New Zealand, “would definitely be etched in the history books of the two countries”.

Ratu Inoke met Mr McCully on Ratu Inoke’s return from the official opening of Fiji’s Embassy in Korea.

He said the meeting was a positive one, and that New Zealand was ready to assist Fiji in its constitutional reforms.

“In that regard, the NZ Government was ready to assist Fiji with $0.5 million dollars towards the work of the Constitution Commission.

Things are looking up…certainly that is the feeling from Fiji.

“However, with yesterday’s meeting, I am optimistic that relations between Fiji and New Zealand was beginning to normalise, an added impetus towards good governance and democratic elections, all of which were central in Fiji’s way forward,” said Ratu Inoke said.

He is fearless in his pursuit of a story.
