Is this the great right hope for Mayor of Auckland?

Word on the street is that Desley Simpson is going to challenge Len Brown for the Auckland Mayoralty.

Len will likely dance around his office singing some appropriately Maori ritual chant and slapping himself at the thought and his staff will be breaking out whatever rate payer funded booze they can lay their hands on.

Desley might be formidable in the leafy areas where a man gets name suppression for showing a woman the back of his hand, in the Brown strongholds where a man gets put in the back of a police car and a talking to from the bench for the same offence she is not going to poll very well at all.

With friends like Michelle Boag helping she will go a very, very long way…just ask Banksie.

As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story.  And when he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.

They say that news is something that someone, somewhere, wants kept quiet.   Cam Slater doesn’t do quiet, and as a result he is a polarising, controversial but highly effective journalist that takes no prisoners.

He is fearless in his pursuit of a story.

Love him or loathe him.  But you can’t ignore him.
