Diary of Comrade Kate, Ctd

24 October

Super day. Finally got recognised for my efforts by our comrades in the blogsphere. Neale from the EPMU wrote it up at The Standard what a great job I am doing increasing union membership in New Zealand.

Called Helen to see if she wanted to have a celebratory nail session. She sounded stressed, no shed fund, now Maritime Unions Local 13 fund has dried up she is having to make cut backs all over the place. I offered to pay and will see if I can stop all this union persecution. Of course unions hide stuff, and so they should. It is not for prying capitalists to know what our comrades are doing with their union dues.

As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story.  And when he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.

They say that news is something that someone, somewhere, wants kept quiet.   Cam Slater doesn’t do quiet, and as a result he is a polarising, controversial but highly effective journalist that takes no prisoners.

He is fearless in his pursuit of a story.

Love him or loathe him.  But you can’t ignore him.
