A coincidence surely?

It’s a small world.

How unreal to be associated with two Akaroa fires in one year.

The manager who was working at the bakery in the latest fire:

The fire?that gutted an Akaroa bakery is being treated as suspicious after fire-safety officials ruled out accidental causes.

McGregor’s Akaroa Bakery?in Beach Rd went up in flames early yesterday, with the back of the building?ablaze.

Fire-safety officer Graham Davies, who has been investigating the fire, said today that the fire had been handed over to police “with the likelihood that it’s suspicious”.

“We’ve ruled out all other accidental causes,”?he said.?

The bakery manager said he had “never been so scared in my life” after discovering the raging blaze while he was preparing filled rolls.

Bakery manager Corey Hondelink, 37, had been working in the shop area at the front of the Beach Rd building for about half an hour when he heard a “popping” sound behind him about 4am.

He?saw through a window the?back of the building ablaze.

He ran down the side of the bakery to get a garden hose but tripped on a bucket. He got in his car and phoned emergency services.

…was also?the person who submitted to TVNZ video footage of last years fish and chip shop fire.

Amazing coincidence or just bad luck?
