Another reason why Chris Christie is a front runner

His ability to laugh at himself:

Andrew Sullivan blogs about whether or not Chris Christie is too fat to be President:

Connie Mariano, a former White House physician, recently worried that Christie’s weight puts him at risk of a heart attack or stroke should he become president. Paul Campos notes that a recent study “found that people as heavy as Christie have a 29% increase in mortality risk, compared to otherwise similar people of normal weight.” But age is a bigger factor:

In January of 2017 Christie will be 54, while the current Democratic frontrunner for her party’s presidential nomination, Hillary Clinton, will be 69. … All other things being equal, government actuarial tables reveal that the odds that a 69-year-old woman will die between January of 2017 and January of 2021 are 115% higher than the odds a 54-year-old man will die during that four-year time period. In other words, age poses almost exactly four times greater a mortality risk to Hillary Clinton than weight does to Chris Christie, in regard to the chances that either would die during their first presidential term.

Oh for fucks sake does the US president govern with his body or what’s between his ears. They voted for a body in a hope that a black leader would save them, nope, just another socialist two bob suckhole. Perhaps this time they might actually listen to someone with something with a bit more behind them then sound bits and slogans.

The fact he can laugh at himself sets him apart from most Pollies – John Key being another capable of seeing the funny side of things. Certainly is different to the dour I just sucked a lemon face of the likes of Clarke.

Good on him, I don’t think serious obesity is a good thing, but it is better to confront it than pretend it’s not there. Great front up on Christie’s part – big thumbs up.

I feel sorry for Hillary Clinton if she is up against a really good Governor who is human and has the great communicator touch. Is he a super sized Ronald Reagan?

    • onelaw4all

He is no Ronald Reagan. He is a trying to build up himself up (no pun intended) as a cult figure (as does Obama) by appearing on all the moronic fluff shows.

If they nominate him in 2016, he will probably go the way of all the previous RINO/lib Republicans that ran: (Ford, 2nd term George HW Bush, Dole, McCain, Romney), assuming of course that the US economy has got to the point that even the MSM and smear campaigning de jour can’t get the Dem nomineee over the line.

has no chance of ever becoming president.Wall St will not back this blob.

Christie praised Obama for sending New Jersey taxpayer pork after the Sandy storm. A more principled candidate would be Texas senator Ted Cruz.
