Meteorites are US weapon test, says Russian politician

Don’t you love Richard Prosser more already?  Because Russians don’t just have bigots, they have complete lunatics running parts of their country.

Hot on the heels of a rumour that a Russian fighter jet had fired a missile at a large meteorite, thus causing all the fragments to rain down on everyone, we now have a Ruski Pollie that’s on his 2nd bottle of Stoli for the day claiming “”It’s not meteors falling, it’s the test of a new weapon by the Americans”.

Moscow. Farid Akberov – APA. Russian nationalist lawmaker Vladimir Zhirinovsky, long known for his flamboyance and outrageous remarks, said Friday that meteorite fragments had not rained down on Russia in the morning, but that the light flashes and tremors in several of the country’s regions resulted from US weapons tests, APA reports quoting RIA Novosti.

“Those aren’t meteors falling, it’s the Americans testing new weapons,” Zhirinovsky, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, told journalists several hours after the Emergencies Ministry began issuing statements on the incident, which has injured hundreds and damaged scores of buildings.

He also said US Secretary of State John Kerry had wanted to warn Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about the “provocation” on Monday, but couldn’t reach him – a reference to US State Department comments earlier this week that Kerry had spent several days trying to speak to Lavrov by phone to discuss North Korea and Syria.

Outer space has its own laws, Zhirinovsky went on.

Of course, if it is a weapons test, do we consider it a success or a failure?

You have to wonder about politics.  Are the people stupid, is the system broken, or both?  This man actually has a great track record of making outrageous statements:

“We must force the government to stop the bird migration. We must shoot all birds, field all our men and troops… and force migratory birds to stay where they are.”

“The civilized world needs to think about a decision when single politicians are not allowed to stay in power.”

In case you missed it, we ran the video of one of the falling meteorites yesterday.
