  • Atheists are getting so nasty towards religion…. Christianity in particular.

    • Mitch82

2000 years of persecuting and executing infidels, and we’re the nasty ones?

Don’t suppose you’d like to buy a bridge, would you?

      • calm down mate… its just a few words on a screen.

        • Mitch82

Seriously, it’s going real cheap if you’re interested.

      • Blair Mulholland

Two thousand years? I think it was largely confined to the reformation, you’ll find. Please be historically accurate. Christians have been the persecutees far more often throughout history than the persecutors. In fact, there is no religion more persecuted in the world today than Christianity. You might want to cut Christians a little slack.

Dry ur tears Tinkerbell, don`t let history get in the way of your sob story.

        • Mitch82

You’ll find that anything resembling what is now called ‘Atheism’ was liable to attract legal persecution at a minimum, as far back as we can trace public non-belief of a god or religion. Plato called it a “danger to society, and should be punished as a crime”. We could argue it all day, but I don’t want to slip on the toys thrown from your cot, so lets say it started with the Reformation.

So because they themselves have been persecuted, I should cut Christianity a little slack when they decide, even in this day and age, that it’s okay to persecute other groups? That’s a pretty cushy deal for a ‘peaceful’ and ‘loving’ religion that should damned well know better by now.

There’s a Tui Billboard in this somewhere.

    • Oh no! Surely something must be done to ensure Christianity retains its favoured, nobody-can-criticise-us-even-if-it’s-true status!

      • you miss my point. its almost a role reversal just like the “gay” debate. im not defending Christianity….im stating an observation.

its like “ahhh HA! the boot is on the other foot now…. and now im going to USE IT!”

    • Mr_Blobby

      Something to pontificate on.

    • Troy

That’s because religion, christianty in particular is a farce. Logically why people would want to follow something that has been written by someone for which there is no empircal proof of the content is astounding. Freedom to believe in whatever is fine… .but so is the freedom to debunk it.

      • yeah… you hit the nail on the head. but theres no real reason for nastyness is there? what ever happened to “live and let live”?

        • Bunswalla

What happened to your sense of humour Nigel? I do hope you’re not outraged – if so there’s another post that can help you.
