The problem with the Education system

The problem is the same the world over…the teacher unions:

From Prager University: We talk endlessly about improving public schools. So what’s standing in the way? Stanford Professor Terry Moe identifies the biggest obstacle — teachers unions.

Face it Whale: Hekia and Joyce and Key should just ban teacher unions – and ideally any (ex-)union teachers too.

Damn the torpedoes, “Full Ahead Both Engines”.

The necessary law would be less than one page long.

Time for Key to show he has some guts.

  • In Vino Veritas

Excellent, have just emailed a link of this to the Principal of my daughters school!

    • Patrick

Oh well there goes her chances of getting decent grades this year – if of course the Principle is a member of the Union. Their vindictiveness knows no bounds.

    • TayheiNotts

In Vino Veritas. Be very scared. Patrick is correct; their vindictiveness is boundless.

Nah, the Principal is a good bugger. I was 6 years on the BOT and know him well. He implemented National Standards in short order (the school pretty much already reported the info required previously). He is not the greatest fan of the Principals association, nor the teachers union, so I don’t have much to fear.

  • Jman

Good video. It really spells it out clearly. It’s time these union scum were sent packing.

Key will not do anything, he is a socialist. The real problem is the Government take over of education in the 1877 education act when the Austrian system was introduced to indoctrinate children to be obedient to the state. Since then records show a steady decline in literacy standards and percentages. The state should have nothing to do with control, curriculum or delivery. Refer to Muriel Newman’s soap box to see more, under compolsory education.

  • Superb video. He is absolutely right. Teachers should not even be allowed to unionise. It is an inherent conflict of interests – their first loyalty will always be to protecting other teachers (i.e. the bad ones that need protecting) and not to the children they are employed to teach.

    • Hazards001

Which is the nature of all unions…well said!

    • StupidDisqus

Again: it’s not just enough to ban the unions, you also have to ban the (ex-)unionists from ever teaching (or ideally working anywhere near children) again.

  • Teachersrock

Funny thing is, a study in the US shows that those states that do the best in education rankings have very strong unions.

    Nothing but union bashing. Yawn.
