  • Brilliant!

The longest suicide note in history…

  • Positan

But what is completely beyond rational understanding is that a significant part of the voting electorate actually sees Labour/Greens as “alternative government.”

    • It is because WE are the misguided ones.

      • Positan

Speak for yourself – I thought it was because the aforementioned part of the electorate was too thick to rationalise anything.

    • Mr_Blobby

Petal is right you are misguided. Think about it very carefully. If you are a net beneficiary of the TAX system, let me put it another way.

If you rely on the Government for a benefit, rebate, subsidy or wages. Why would you not vote for whoever is going to maintain your entitlements. If you effectively don’t pay TAX, what does it matter to you what the TAX rate is.

      • Positan

Petal’s point was so wide as to explain itself or in fact elaborate anything, but like an ersatz pedant, you take part of the thrust of what I said to engineer a argument not intended by me. Go back to my words “rational understanding.” Implicit, surely, was that those who’d support Labour for the very reasons you’ve raised were neither employing rationale nor attempting to rationalise any aspect of their vote. As to “misguided,” I think most of those, aside from yourself, who read my comment, absorbed it as it was intended.

  • Let’s see a party put everything in writing before an election these days. There is so much hedging and fence sitting going on, parliament looks like the Ellerslie Flower Show.

    • Gazzaw

Shearer won’t confirm or deny that there will be a compulsory reacquisition of SOE shares in the renote event that labour becomes the next government and has indicated that there will be no policy declared prior to the election. How’s that for fence sitting? More like economic sabotage to talk down the price of the shares by putting the fear of God into small investors. Who’s pulling Shearer’s strings on this issue – Norman or Peters?

      • Agent BallSack

All the more reason for National to sell ALL remaining SOE power companies to the public, and create competition rather than a monopoly. Prices cant drop in a one owner market we saw that with Telecom. As soon as other major players entered the market what happened? Shit, prices plummeted and we realised we had been over a barrel for many years to that company.

Enough for a remake of “back to the future”.

This is because they have Apathy on their side.

Who wrote this stuff? Do they have a blog?

  • blokeintakapuna

Well the union aspect of Labour firmly believe in 1950 style work practises… As demanded at PoAL… So this 1983 stuff is really quite progressive for them.

They will be completely butt-fucked by Bubba though if only written policies, full costed before an election were to be permitted. That would help the voters see which mast they pin their colours to. Might help Shearer make a policy decision and stick to it also.

Looks like they were insane in 83 to and here I was thinking it was a modern phenomenon.
