Is Bob Parker rooted?

Leaked polling numbers I have seen suggests that Bob Parker is trailing Lianne Dalziel by over 25%. Bob’s negatives are very high, and his handling of Tony Marryatt have not helped. The same poll has even higher negatives for Mrs Mayor, who has a reputation for being extremely difficult to deal with.

Bob’s previous backers have failed to respond for requests for money because Bob has been so busy being mayor he has forgotten his friends. National have washed their hands of him so will not be helping, with most National supporters remembering Big Gerry’s clown comments

Lianne Dalziel’s campaign is rumoured to be exceptionally well funded, with her twenty years of pragmatism leading many National donors to give generously. She has a formidable Labour Party machine on the ground, and unlike Bob will have a big team of volunteers doing the leg work to ensure she wins. Lianne is being supported by anti-bob elements in the National Party, who genuinely like her rather than just supporting the anyone but Bob candidate.

This doesn’t look good for Bob, and it is unlikely he will be able to leverage a job out of National as Big Gerry still thinks he is a clown even if he doesn’t say it out loud any more.

        • toby_toby

Nah seriously though, that makes her look like a drag queen.

      • cruiseyman

I’ve seen her in person a few times and I would’ve sworn she was a man. Frightening.

        • Tony

          yep – agreed

  • You may want to check old polling for Bob Parkers numbers the day before the September 2010 earthquake before writing his obituary and pointing him in the direction of the local WINZ office.

“There’s many a slip… ” haha! (just ask Jim Anderton!)

    • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

      He is gone bro.

  • I don’t particularly like Bob Parker. At the last election it was more a case of being the least worst candidate. To be fair to him though a lot of the controversy during his term can be laid at the feet of a militant left minority sneaking of to the media every time they didn’t get their way which ultimately lead to them being excommunicated.

I agree that Bobs days are probably numbered, I doubt he would have won the last election if not for the earthquakes. We really need him to stand aside at the next election and let someone else, more electable, stand in his place.

If Bob ends up standing Dalziel might just win by default which would likely be a disaster for the city and it’s recovery. Just what we need, the loopy left in charge of a multi-billion dollar recovery. Next we’ll see every business involved in the recovery nationalised.

  • Mr_V4

I would say he will stand down. He’s probably had long enough in the job, and compared to what some mayors do around the country he has had to earn his pay, despite there being a lot of criticism and mistakes made along the way.

The question is will be be replaced by even greater incompetence.

  • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

who cares? Everywhere Sheep’s regime is slowly spreading. He is the messiah.

  • Colin Cloudesley

    Nats do not back her.
Bob has done a good job under the pressure he has had put in front of him.
As for those worms who have tried to F(&( him over while he has been trying to get CHCH on its feet, you are nothing more than children have a who likes me party.

My prediction for Mayor is Tim Carter, his campaign last time was good,

Although Parker will be hard to move on, his brand is damaged by a thousand burns to the people . I do not dismiss him, even a dirty soiled, dishonest brand is still a brand
He started his Mayoralty with dishonesty [ buying Ngai Tahu building for 150 million ] and continuing in secrecy and pomposity. He has aged terribly. His idea of a train set from Rangiora to Hornby was the craziest idea in the history of Canterbury, but it meant good travel to Seattle and other places with Tony Marryat.
    Parker is spent.
Tim Carter is unscathed and his centre right position will not scare people. we need someone to deal to the mongrels around.
The Sam Johnson idea was absurd.

Also to go with any luck from Council Ngaire Button, Sue Wells, … Barry Corbett is resigning, Clauda Reid is resigning., .
Aaron Keown will possibly hang on to the ludicrous adventure that he is, don’t know about Sally Buck. The left who knows, but Parker established the premiereship of Mayoralty so this will be good for Carter.

Carter will have good backing and substantial resources.

It is Dalziel’s political asylum seeking. Shearer demoted her and no chance in the party now. Her existing Christchurch East constituency doesn’t exist in next election. It would be a disaster for the city if she win. National shouldn’t support her. Bob is a nice man and very capable and now very experienced and know the city. The Labour torries just want to play their 18th century dirty politics and destroy the city. If the hopeless woman win, many good developers will go away. Moreover who wants that looser woman as Mayor !!

  • Monique

Dalziel know she is not going to win, that’s why tried to trap Sam Johnson. Clever Sam Johnson escaped, he knows his future will be gone if join this woman who is being largely hated by People in Christchurch. Labour party failed to look after the earthquake affected people and every one here know that.

Sorry Bob, but telling me you were there to help EQ TC3 Residents and then telling one off the very next day for saying the same things, didn’t wash too well with me. Thanks for the help when the EQ actually happened but it is now that we need it the most and where are you?
