Budget Whingers, and bludgers too

So, as per usual, TVNZ managed to dredge up a Budget whinger on last night’s news.

Carissa Graham already has six kids with twins on the way.

Here they all are on the couch, eating potato chips.

Carissa Graham

This whinger and bludger should learn to shut her legs before breeding anymore. The source of her poverty is her ability to flip it up willy-nilly.

It looks like Carissa’s a newly wed… and enjoys a nice wine –

carissa graham

While hubby can still afford the odd beer eh?…Not just any beer either…expensive imported beer.

Carissa Graham2

And it seems there is plenty of money for a Big Screen TV, nice stereo system…and Sky TV…to watch the All Blacks.

My wife’s comment on seeing that news item: “Doesn’t she know what causes it?”

    • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

      I doubt it bro….

    • spollyike

Probably thinks the Government causes it.

      • Patrick

John Key did it – obviously as he is to blame for everything.

        • dumbshit

pat her on the head and her pants fall off, obviously

  • sarah

Im pretty certain it said how was she suppose to find a house big enough for 8 people. Now if Im not mistaking 5 children and 2 on the way makes 7 plus mum makes 8 is she one of these DPB people without announcing the husband that is “suppose” to be slogging it hard? even if you add Dad that 7 plus 2 on the way.

    • unsol

Nope she said 6 kids with twins on the way so the kids plus her & her husband = 10.

      • spollyike

A simple mistake, the picture only shows 5 kids doesn’t it. Unless you count the Mum as a kid, which I would;)

        • unsol

Yes. But Sarah didn’t go by the pictures – like me she listened/watched the video – I simply corrected the figures.

        • unsol

And get on with your studies boy – we don’t want you to be on the news for the same reasons now do we!

          • spollyike

Ok, what about you, don’t you have an empty house to clean and a glass of red to drink Marge Simpson style?

          • unsol

Oooh touche. I have done the dusting…having a coffee before I do the vacuuming & bathrooms. :-)

Oh hang on, I should be saying no, that’s what our housekeeper is for – you know, being a lady of leisure & all that.

Plus – you’re the housebitch in your home, haven’t you got cleaning to do too?!!!

Hmmm only just managed to keep on top of the accounts this week though – damn this blog for being so distracting (quick glance it aint!).

          • spollyike

Done mine also, bathrooms (all 6), set the robot vacuum to do it’s thing (cat enjoys that), lawnmower man has been and gone, LOL;) Dusting…what’s that?

          • Dave

And here was I thinking you had a business to run Unsol, or are you multi tasking just like Carissa is obviously so good at?

          • spollyike

3 hrs later Spolly wonders what happened to unsol…

          • unsol

Housework & accounts done, child on playdate but couldn’t resist using my last free 10 minutes on here before getting dinner ready then picking her up….to rant at you turkey boy (see below)! I’m not impressed. I sure hope you’ve been exaggerating (most people tend to when talking about money). You’re a math boy – you should be fiscally conservative. Grrgh!!!

          • spollyike

LOL, it was worth it to wind your spring;)

          • unsol

Well played – I’m a bean counter & a cost-benefit ratio girl so it was always going to get a bite from me!

Have a good weekend spolly – make sure you use each of those 6 bathrooms!

  • GregM

Yep, saw that, swore at the telly again.
Notice the my sky remote on the armrest, poor my arse.

    • spollyike

Poor bastard that married her more like!

She must be loose as a clowns pocket!

      • Dave

Whilst some truth there spooly, no need to take the debate that low, as Green Holy reminded us, sometimes visualization of the situation is better than words (or worse in this case) -:)

        • spollyike

LOL, she’s already pooped out 6 kids now shes going to poop out twins. Holy fuck, you need to be a pretty big man to make up for that loss of elasticity!!!!!!!

Loss of Traction = Loss of Satisfaction.

          • Dave

As I said, visualization is sometimes Better, if your man enough

          • spollyike

Ahh “visualisation” green-speak for acid-flashback, it all makes sense now…;)

          • 4077th

Mine’s had 5, gear still workin’ a treat mate!

          • spollyike

            Is there anything left??

    • Andy C

I remember (years ago) I was talking with a manager who used to be at Sky and was discussing their marketing. Those of you who are old enough will remember that what Sky launched it was marketed to the premium end of the spectrum, for lack of a better expression. They completely missed the mark, it turned out the poor were their main drivers.

$30/month is less than a main on a meal out for the wealthy, they didn’t really care and may or may not have decided to subscribe, however $30 for an entire month’s entertainment for the whole family was a HUGE bargain for the less well off. You may remember when their pitch changed to me more along the lines of “you can get all of this for just x$!!”

So seeing poorer familys with Sky isn’t that unusual, they view it as a fairly cheap way to entertain the family relative to the other options (movies, going out to zoo, etc).

      • Grizz30

Basic sky with sports is now about $100/month. It is far more than any savings derived from the wheelbarrow economics power scheme. This may mean the difference between the house you want and a smaller home.

        • spollyike

These people are incapable of rational thought or weighing up opportunity costs. Unbelievable i know and yet…

      • flashman

        Agreed, well put.

      • GregM

I see your point Andy, but if they are short of money, what’s wrong with freeview? $100 per month minimum for “my sky” with sports, would go a long way to renting a bigger taxpayer funded house, given that their rent will be pegged at 25% of their income.
The only thing in this bludgers favour is that the house looks spotless, and the kids are obviously happy and well looked after.

  • boristhefrog

is she a member of the Labour party??? Best to find out!

    • Gazzaw

Dunno Boris but you can bet your bottom dollar that the TV News producer is.

    • I bet the Greens at TV3 were gutted Labour got to her first. Poor prep Mr Campbell.

  • You missed the computer in the first picture.
She may also have the credit-card-bill-from-hell.

  • 4077th

“We’ll have no money to live” Stop rooting, getting up the duff and get a god dam job love. FFS it really boils my blood that my hard earned taxes are paying for these fucking layabouts lifestyle. Enough already!

  • Brian of Mt Wellington

I bet they aren’t too poor with the flash A/V gear in the house. If some families can’t get ahead, then STOP popping out kids. It wouldn’t surprise me that she has never been employed and when the last kid is old enough that she could look for work, she gets herself up the duff again. Nowadays to get what you want you can do it if both parents bring in an income. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.

  • What a disgusting post!

I grew up in a 2 bedroom house as the oldest of 6 children, and I know other large families that own their houses that don’t have that many bedrooms, so I’m not arguing against the sense of entitlement that the woman portrays in expecting the government to give her family a bigger house.

But telling her to keep her legs closed, that’s just disgusting.

    • Balls. What’s disgusting is that she pops out kids will nilly and demands ‘help now’ to get a bigger house. Fuck off.

      • Red

Comment of the day Donovan! Not easy to get it that right in just a line and a half.

      • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Please pay a little more tax and everything will be alright – Russel Norman, Deputy PM and Finance Minister of NZ

    • Bunswalla

She has to keep her legs closed if she doesn’t want more children, Lucia Maria because like you she’s a good catholic and the pope says contraception is murder.

    • James

I have no problems with people having lots of kids – personal decision and everything. But I do have huge problems with people having lots of kids that they can’t afford to have. So if she can’t afford kids then she should stop having them.

    • unsol

No, telling her she can give kids at other people’s expense is disgusting & morally repugnant.

Stop trolling Lucia – ME has been & gone so off you go now, there’s a good girl.

      • spollyike

        She wasn’t trolling unsol.

    • williamabong

Who cares about the legs, just stop rooting.

    • spollyike

Not very conservative of you Lucia. You SHOULD be arguing against her sense of entitlement, NOT against her right to have kids. You have it around the wrong way.

      • That is exactly what I meant, though reading my comment again, I can see why you got that impression. I’ve edited it, without losing what I originally said.

        • spollyike

Ahhh, that’s a sigh of relief Lucia!

    • Mr_Blobby

Why have children that you know you can’t afford. No what this stupid cow needs is a state sponsored chastity belt.

      • Hazards001

“Why have children that you know you can’t afford. No what this stupid cow needs is a state sponsored chastity belt.”

No what this stupid cow needs is a state sponsored education…errr…ummm rats..OK that was already offered..OK..nope..I got nothing!

    • Dave

Lucia…… Think of the children, the care they receive, the parenting, and the opportunities they get and how EACH additional child will make their lifestyle, FOOD and opportunities diminish. YES, every child over 2 or three depending on the CIRCUMSTANCES means there is LESS for the existing siblings. In the animal world, its survival of the fittest offspring, and after all Lucia…… SUrvival of the fittest. This is an example of the lamest, one who keeps BREEDING expecting you and I and thousands of other taxpayers to pay for their breeding.

Perhaps you can take them under your wing, feed them. house them and teach them the basics of good contraception – or abstaining.

      • RightOfGenghis

Dave, to a catholic contraception is a sin. Just sayin….

    • Dave

Further thought for you Lucia – perhaps its time for her to swap teams, and bat for the other side, thats another way of stopping the breeding. Yup, extreme and a bit gross, but somehow this women needs to stop producing kids the state has to pay for.

      • TomTom

Or her hubby can just wear a condom?

        • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Personal choice of freedom TomTom bro, freedom!

    • 4077th

Peddle your outrage somewhere else Lucia..nothing to see here love!

  • How the fuck is her massive family my problem? Don’t breed ’em if YOU can’t feed ’em, you bludging piece of shit.

    • AnonWgtn

      Too late !

      • Mr_Blobby

        Adoption.

      • I really genuinely feel sorry for those kids, having been there myself as a ‘lightie’ with not much to go round; watching as everyone else gets bikes while your pappy gets shitfaced and you’re hungry etc. Might not be like that for this lot, but you know how it is with us righties and our faith in humanity, etc.

        • spollyike

          That sucks man…

          • Heheh, not anymore, gives great perspective and truly allows one to enjoy the good stuff knowing exactly what the bad is like!

    • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Where is your social justice? Are you not supposed to work hard to support these people? Sheep is disappointed….

      • Along with Sheep, they can go fuck themselves :-D.

      • spollyike

        Back in character, nice;)

      • disqus_wMsITO4Q42

Just as he will be in Nov 2014

  • Andy

Read Kevin Marx, we is needing a basic human right to Sky TV innit

    http://bogpaper.com/2012/12/03/kevin-mark-lefty/

    • spollyike

      classic.

    • Bunswalla

      Very good!

    • Lofty

      Excellent link Andy

  • cows4me

Oh leave her alone she’s been patriotic.

  • spollyike

Nearly fucking vomited when i saw this. We are in the $150k plus category and i am stay at home studying dad (without benefits), we have one 4 year old and one on the way in a months time. We cannot justify having SKY, we are trying to save so my wife can take time off work for the baby (about 5 weeks). We had to think long and hard and had many heated discussions when trying to decide if we wanted to try for a second child. These people make me sick, the don’t rationalise anything, they are basically just big KIDS. The problem in NZ right now is that we just aren’t telling our kids to GROW UP and ACT YOUR AGE any more.

    • +1000000. Similar situation here; we have one and I am worried stupid about being able to provide for him alone, wife wants a #2 and I don’t know if we can handle it financially. Because I don’t just want my kid/s to scrape by (like I did, with loser parents and 4 kids in one bedroom of a 2-bedroom house), I want them to enjoy the finer things in life – while knowing that to enjoy those things, you have to work for it first. You have to PAY to play!!

      • spollyike

Yeah it’s tough being responsible ain’t it?

      • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

        Another rich prick!! Noted

        • Nah, just a prick, I’m afraid. 1 outta 2 ain’t bad, though.

      • Sponge

Nailed it! Thats exactly like me. When I was a kid (selfish and knowing no better) I always wanted something cool (a chopper bike being an example) and got something less that I desired – i.e a Releigh 20. I massively appreciate what my parents gave me and I can now see the sacrifice they made to give me some of those things. For all of that my drive since I have had kids is for them to never be disappointed like I was. They do not get spoiled but for birthdays and Christmas they get quality presents.

    • unsol

Hmmm $150K plus and you had to think long and hard about whether you could afford to have a second child?? And you can only afford for your wife to be off work for 5 weeks?

What would you do if you wife was incapacitated & couldn’t work? Got income protection? Made sure your mortgage is less than 30% of your gross wage? On that kind of income it is easy done. Trust me. And have you got at least 3 months savings re your expenses to tide you over should a worse case scenario happen? A plan B?

I agree with your sentiments but your position certainly invites judgment too spolly – not too many bean counters would empathise with you that’s for sure.

      • spollyike

How else do you pay off the boat, the bach and the AMG?

        • unsol

AMG – $200K merc? Plus a house with 6 bathrooms (must be a fairly large floor base & you’ve said you’re a city boy so you can’t have got much change out of a million) plus you reckon you have a boat – what a super yacht or a dingy? and a bach – in the sticks or in Pauanui?

You’re a bloody turkey spolly if you have the means to service that kind of debt yet weren’t sure if you could afford a 2nd child or can’t afford for your wife to take more than 5 weeks off.

Children are more important than things – lose the materialist crap & get your wife to bond with her baby.

          Just saying…

          • spollyike

each to their own unsol, each to their own…don’t worry it’s only a CLS Shooting Brake.

          • unsol

No no no maths boy – I would have expected you of all people to be fiscally conservative. Grrgh!!!

But AMG – good taste. But Audi Rs6 wagon way better.

          • spollyike

yep thought so…were you the blond on the plane?

          • Sponge

            until the warranty runs out….

    • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

      Rich prick eh – noted.

      • spollyike

LOL, not really, we only just caught a break.

    • cruiseyman

If you can be bothered read my response to this further down, but in a nutshell,I agree with you and am in a similar situation. I read Unsol giving you a bit of stick but at the end of the day you are making your choices and asking noone else to fund them so you do what you like. You set your own standards for what you want to provide for your kids as I am with mine. The kids in the story above all look well cared for and the mum doesn’t actually look like a feral scrubber but I’m sure we’re all contributing towards that. I hope she’s put us on her Christmas card list.

    • Hazards001

” We had to think long and hard and had many heated discussions when trying to decide if we wanted to try for a second child.”

I’m trying to get my head around that statement..let’s see

STAY AT HOME DAD: No..no I don’t want another kid…how can we afford it?
MUM EARNING 150K+: We? Who the fuck is we? Shut ya gob and get it in!

      OR is it?

STAY AT HOME DAD: C’mon babe..it’s now or never..let’s have another while we’re in the prime of our lives. I don’t mind staying home a bit longer chatting on Whale oil and studying while you bring home the bacon!
MUM EARNING 150K+: Listen fuck wit…when you pop a 6&1/2 pound turd out the eye of ya dick we’ll have another one and I’ll stay home and look after it while you go clean windows to pay for the upkeep!

Either way I’m sure the heated discussions in your house are a win win every time! SNORT!

  • In Vino Veritas

Her attitude rankled me. “we have been wanting a bigger house for some time and cannot afford a bigger house because we would have no money to live” blah blah. Welcome to the real world sweetheart. You have chosen to have 8 kids. Provide for them yourself. Don’t expect everyone else to do it for you.

This woman and her husband should be booted out of their state house forthwith.

    • spollyike

These “people” just do not understand the concept of Opportunity Cost do they? It should be compulsory in Secondary school.

  • JeffDaRef

She wants something in the Budget to help her?
Last time I checked, a roll of duct tape was about $5 at Mitre 10 Mega – though I fear we’re a few years too late…

    • spollyike

..you go on a benefit, you get a free hysterectomy?

      • Dave

Happy for Sheep to pull a few strings to get her to the top of the list, TODAY would be good!

    • Sponge

There must be better methods of cleaning the pipi than that surely?

  • williamabong

Must be April the first again, perhaps a wee snip for hubby might be in order about five years ago, professional breeders, nothing more.
As for getting a comment from the fat Greenie, why would you bother, it’s got fuck all to say on a lot,and a lot to say on fuck all, has anyone ever noticed she never gets interviewed near bright lights, it seems they just shine straight through between the ears.

  • Anonymouse Coward

“Not just any beer either…expensive imported beer.”

Nah no recycled pee from the Waikato in that beer. HAHAHAHA!

    • Lofty

yes yes and the joy of that AC is that the one true beer that makes you a “jaffa hating man” south of the bombays but north of Taupo…you know the one “Waikato” is brewed in Auckland using that same recycled pee…oh the irony.

      • Anonymouse Coward

My tipple is Speights brewed by flinty southern men in Otago.

At least that is what the ads on my TV imply. Kirin San from Tokyo wouldn’t mislead me would he?

        • spollyike

Sadly Speights is a another Lion Nathan product last time i checked. It actually tastes so much like lion red it’s not funny.
Go for an international brew like kingfisher or tiger or even the rice based tsingtao to get a decent lager and go for imported UK or belgians if you want a decent Ale.

          • Lofty

You are quite correct spollyike. except to say that Tsingtao to the best of my knowledge is brewed using conventional ingredients.
I fondly remember my time in China drinking it for about 50 cents a big boy.
The brewery was apparently set up by the krauts in Shanghai ?way back.

          • spollyike

I also grew fond of it during my time in China, and Singha in Thailand. Funnily, there was a beer called REEB in Shanghai, which is just BEER spelled backwards…Classic!

          • spollyike

“like many other beers made in China, Tsingtao Beer contains a proportion of the less-expensive rice as an adjunct in the mash.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsingtao_Brewery

          • Dave

Tsintao was quite drinkable, but a bit sweet, can still get it here in Aussie, i got a dozen a few weeks ago.

          • spollyike

Actually the rice makes it DRY.

          • spollyike

Yeah used to get in Perth for cheaper than the local stuff. It’s been here at Countdown for $9.99 1/2 doz, not bad.

          • 4077th

I agree loftly it is good beer and I consume plenty of it regularly…hic! It is certainly priced well and I like the big boy bottles..3 seems to be the right number of an evening. Some twat at a bottle shop in Kelston tried to tell me the main ingredient was suspect and how could I even think of putting it in my body..Fucking gap toothed westie fool.

          • LabTested

When I was in China the local rugby club was sponsored by a pub. Jugs & jugs of free Tsingtao very Saturday. It is impossible to get drunk on it, believe me I have tried & tried. It is nothing more than flavoured water. Kingfisher & Tiger are good as are Japanese beers.

(New?) South Auckland brewery Boundary Road is doing some good stuff

          • Hazards001

            Gimme fucking strength!

        • TomTom

Try Monteiths. They have some seriously good brew – Apricot being my favourite.

          • spollyike

Try Little Creatures Pale Ale, spent many a hot day in Fremantle at the brewery drinking that amazing drop:) You might find it at liquor king.

          • TomTom

…too fucking poor! XD I only drink nice beers when I have managed to wrangle some extra hours out of work.
Other times, I just drink $7 bottles of white wine (as long as you get Marlborough wines, it’s nice enough) or $12 6 pack of Woodstock.

          • spollyike

I don’t drink this beer very often, it’s like a good wine to me. It was ok when we lived there but…

I buy whatever reasonable beer is on special at countdown for the week/day;)

          • Patrick

Be interested in the price – around AUS$67.00 for 24 bodgies puts it above my limit.

  • CJA

Certainly rankles me. You know I would have a bit of sympathy if the MSM (counting TV3, TVNZ and the Horrid) actually came up with people I could associate with and understand. For example solo parent working their butts off and having to juggle a career with kids and they were struggling, then yes I could perhaps I could go “Yeah, good on them and it’s hard out there.” Instead we get news items like this where clearly the people do not have two brain cells to rub together and wonder why life is so hard. Take some responsiblity for your actions especially in the case of having kids who should be the most treasured people in your lives.

    • spollyike

Yeah, they must look “really” hard for these people. NOT!

    • Mr_V4

Aforementioned ‘hardworking people’ won’t have time to do silly MSM media interviews, esp. when the mandatory footage is:
      1) Shot of family on couch looking sad.
      2) Dowdy man in kitchen opening bills
      3) Sob story

      Newswipe had it right …

    • Grizz30

Perhaps what you are looking for is much harder to find.

  • PlanetOrphan

Capitalism is based on growth , good on ya Girl you’ve made up for the rest of the people who can’t breed 2+ kids.
    Simple formula isn’t it ?

  • PlanetOrphan

Capitalism is based on growth , good on this Girl she’s made up for the rest of the people who can’t breed 2+ kids.
    Simple formula isn’t it ?

  • unsol

How are we going to push the govt to start being tough with a two-tongued approach whereby the welfare tap slowly gets turned off & people are made to face the cold reality that if you want something in this life YOU bloody earn it.

My husband wondered whether the media approaches WINZ to find these kinds of people. But it does not ever achieve the outcome they or the families want: housing NZ tenants with 8 kids, low income, sky, flat screen TV etc invites outrage, judgment & ridicule for being so stupid.

This is a handout/poor me of the worst kind. These people don’t need a large house – people used to cope quite well with no more than 80 sq metres (up until 1960s I think) with large families so if they can’t afford a large house then two bad – double bunk in the rooms & keep your bloody legs closed woman. Or I don’t know, take advantage of the FREE condoms Family Planning dish out

This bullshit makes me so angry. It is theft. We pay 10s of thousands of dollars in tax each year at a price – our daughter gets 22 hours p/w on average with her Dad/my husband as guess what, life is about choices & sacrifices so we are earning now to be able to chill out later. We make it work for us & we live according to our means.

This lady & her husband are spoilt entitled lazy brats. Here’s this for a solution: cancel your sky, stop drinking alcohol, stop feeding your kids junk food, grow some bloody veges & suck it up – your choice your problem.

We will pay our taxes so you can get given money to feed your kids as well, that’s the kind of people we are – your kids did not choose you two losers to be their parents. But for God’s sake start taking responsibility for your own life, stop breeding & get a damn job.

    • Lofty

I am not prepared to outline my own families circumstances here, but I will say that I have 2 x firsthand knowledge of solo mums, deadbeat dads, and surviving, and in both cases it does not involve taxpayers input, outside of a little rent subsidy.
It does involve loads of loving support, employment, grandparent assistance, vegetable gardens, and strict budgeting.
This family makes me cross, and I also despair at the mentality of entitlement so very prevalent in NZ.

      • unsol

I too know first hand re the circumstances of why some fall on hard times & have seen many low income people do very well on limited budgets. But more often than not they still possess the same attitude when it comes to having children like the couple in this story. People seem to think that having children is a God given right. But unless you can provide for your child/ren on your own merit – that means NO assistance of any kind then you should not have them.

Of course this implies I am suggesting only the rich have kids, but rather than focussing on that, I would like to know why those who have kids that can’t afford them (any WFF assistance included) are more important than those net taxpayers who say have a child that develops a rare disease for which they have no choice but to try & fundraise for because the public money simply isn’t there. This is just not fair. The money is never there so such people often have to fundraise if they have not taken out private health insurance.

So I find it difficult to balance my compassion & empathy for those who get caught making the odd mistake or poor choice vs my immense frustration with those who fail to plan – whether low income or high income, and then scream poor me when they find that it all turns to custard.

For me those who get WFF and go on to have additional children are just as bad as this lady & her husband. As are those who are on high incomes & base their lifestyle on best case scenario & fail to take into account whether they can service their debt/fund their lifestyle if their income was to drop significantly.

Too many people seem to think that they have the right to do whatever they like whenever they like – generation me is well & truly prevalent in this country!

    • spollyike

Or funding to breed could be capped at ONE child NOW!

  • Harroputza

This woman was unbelievable on the news last night. It makes me so livid I just don’t even know where to start. Actually, I do know where to start: stop having more goddamn kids if you can’t fucking afford them!

  • metalnwood

They did say FOUR bedroom house didnt they? Thats pretty big for a handout house and most people that pay for their own dont give every kid a room each.

Maybe the twins stay in their room until they are big enough to sleep with the other kids who double up in the other rooms. Safe bunks are not that expensive. Three or even four kids in a room is not the end of the world for 4/5/6 year olds.

  • ozbob68

“Receivership” – We do it to companies that are in the kack due to poor management; why not beneficiaries? Would make great tv too.

  • Andrei

These look like Patriotic Kiwis to me not bludgers

  • sarah

OMG is that a My SKY remote at the end of the couch?

    • Lofty

      Sure looks like it sarah

    • Patrick

She should bung it in the hole – might be enough of an obstacle to stop the rutting bull getting another shot away.

      • Travis Poulson

Nevermind that, she needs to shove an upside down bucket in there with an anchor so it can’t come out.

  • By my calculations (based solely on her info on OldFriends) Carissa is approx. 26 years old. So, 18-25 years to go before the kids are off her hands (she’ll be 51), no savings, probably a few credit issues along the way, no/minimal work history, and no guarantee the sole-earner hubby will last the distance (a fact of life unfortunately). She may live to 82 (an average lifespan), which means state accommodation will need to be provided for another 56 years. I doubt she’ll enjoy the day when she’s forced to give up her large state house and is moved into one of Len’s Glasgow-style tower block ghettos.

    • Gazzaw

You’re assuming Andrew that she’ll only have eight kids. If she’s popped out eight by age 26 go figure. Sky’s the limit!

  • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

I am recommending to Sheep that he imposes a special tax called “Breeders Benefit Tax”. This will be just 3 cents a dollar on income over 60K to fund poor people like her to live a decent life….what say you Tory rich pricks?

  • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Sorry fellows, sorry to disagree. Absolute poverty in display here…Sheep’s heart is bleeding…He will be coming up with some policy announcements soon.

  • steve and monique

There are no words that sum up this bullshit, apart from “for fucks sake”.When do welfare get hold of these breeders, and say enough. If you want more kids,or a bigger house, then do what the rest of us do,GET A JOB. And if you cant afford it,do not expect the country to pay for it.

  • Alloytoo

The true measure of poverty in NZ is Basic Sky. By this measure these people are rich.

  • johnbronkhorst

Here’s a cure for the chardoney socialists.
Pay them their GROSS wages and make them take the tax portion and personally hand the cash to these bludgers. When they go to their house and see that they are in a queue of people handing over money (people just like themselves) and see how these people spend it….Maybe then they will wise up and stop voting labour/greens!!!

    • spollyike

      great idea.

      • johnbronkhorst

I gotta come clean…not mine…stole it from the wife!

        • spollyike

          yeah-na, thought so…

  • TVNZ should really know better than putting these people on TV, it is not a good look and the only person who gets screwed is the woman herself ( take the pun) with all the comments about her. TVNZ is abusing this person.
Must say the kids look happy and well dressed.

  • steve and monique

Noticed anti poverty protest on google news. Looks like Sue Bradford is up to her old tricks. Pity she cant provide a good example to her children.

    • johnbronkhorst

      I’m against poverty too.
A wise man once told me….the best way to help the poor, is to NOT be one of them!

  • Guy

Can’t help but notice the MySky remote resting on the arm of that couch. Must be tough affording all the necessities…

    • Dave

Also noticed a relatively new Air Con unit mounted on the wall, looks likely the STATE HOUSE has benefitted from the National Govt Housing improvement program, if so would be fully insulated and have the NEW Reverse Cycle Air Con as heating. LUCKY Tenants!!!!! A Positive point, kids looked fed were learning to sing and looked happy.

      • rockape

Yes and she looks overfed! Far too many expensive TVs and stereos for me to have any sympathy1

  • Dave

Maybe its time to look at this (and similar stories) as an opportunity and take a different tack here. What if the WO Army could put a different spin on this, Firstly COST the entire family, what they are actually costing the taxpayer, rent subsidies, health, benefits, etc etc…… Then an alternative, how they could live if…… the WO army could find her a JOB, find hubby a better paying job, offer a course or two in parenting/gardening/contraception/budgeting etc, and offer it up on WOBH. Perhaps the MSM might actually start to report, I am always amazed the MSM follow each other, and that their opposition doesn’t rip their story to bits as bad journalism, sorry repeating.

    • Jonathan Pull

Don’t be silly that would require positive ideas and thoughts.
Its to much fun and easy to sit back and ridicule and belittle people.

  • Mark

She could get rid of a few by selling them for medical experiments: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUspLVStPbk

  • Kiwikea

Not just Sky – Mysky as well. The $$$ soon add up. I like how tvnz uses the “average” family with 1000 kids to compare the budget too. Nothing like find a family to suit the headline kind of story.

  • Big-Inja

Am I in the twilight zone!!

The woman pleads for help. While sitting on her fairly new couch, eating some crisps and watching My Sky on her flat screen with surround speakers. B!tch please.

  • Gazzaw

L’arsehole should be here any time now – might be a bit late today because the House is still sitting. I’m sure he will have a great explanation of how these unfortunates are but one family out of thousands who have been unfairly dealt to by the evil Tories.

    • Ian

What the hell is wrong with planning a family, not leaping into bed and producing, expecting every other poor bastard to pay for the results. Many doing the paying can’t afford kids of their own because of this type of shit.

      • Gazzaw

Sorry, it went over your head Ian. I am in no way a sympathiser.

        • Ian

Sorry it went over your head, I was not berating you . . . just making another point.

  • flashman

Whatever choices the parents have made and still make, the kids already exist. If you take away the subsidised housing it’s their children who will suffer most. That may not be how we’d like it, but that’s how it is. If it helps you get your head around it, think of it as ensuring the kids, who have no say in the matter, have a decent place to live.

    • Ian

If they keep breeding and can’t afford to keep them, charge them will wilful neglect and take the kids to a home where they will be appreciated as human beings, not a ticket to bludge off taxpayers.

  • LesleyNZ

They have all the things I could never afford at that age…………….better to save your money.

  • Rodger T

Forget Waitangi Day,forget ANZAC day, Bludget Day should be our new National Holiday.
A day when the terminally fuckwitted can sit around the goggle box with their hands out and then bleat endlessly about how they are being marginalised by the Gummint not increasing their ENTITLEMENTS !

  • Ian

And how many fathers do these kids have . . . are they local by town supply so as to receive the maximum the taxpayers can provide? These sort of people and the shit like Tv1 (taxpayer-owned SOE) piss me off. Don’t try and drum up support for these losers at our expense, we are subsidising the crap too much already. She should be sewn up or sterilised.

  • Michael

If Hubby works and is on a low income – under $36k gross – then she gets more than $519 a week when the twins are born in WFF top-ups. (The chart only goes up to 6 kids so I presume it’s more. That is $26k a year from the taxpayer in direct transfers, not to mention the subsidised housing and free healthcare, education and other benefits we fund for all.

A little gratitude might go a long way with me.

  • RightOfGenghis

Unless this is a deliberate strategy to dumb the thing down it just seems like the herald is on a suicide mission. These blatant attempts to make such obvious bludgers look deserving of the taxpayers’ largesse just turn their paying readership off. Those with enough disposable to fork out for a subscription surely have the whit to smell a bottom feeder a mile off. Another one from today’s issue – “Crackdown on student loans puts Kiwi OE at risk, say critics”. Mindboggling!

I keep telling them this in their incessant online surveys. Funny thing about these surveys. They are clearly targeted at a particular demographic. I’ve tried a number of salary levels and only get past the first page when I edge it over $100K, knock 20 years off my age, and move from Whangarei to Auckland. I think I’ll change sex for the next one, see how far I get

  • Steve R

Is this that same family in the horid this morning . The headline was something like ” we have a 5000 deposit saved and are able to borrow 500 000 but keep geting beaten at auctions by investors ” .
Firstly , when has a investor ever paid top dollar for a house .
Maybe they should concider borrowing less and buying a cheaper house and starting at the bottom of the ladder like real folks do .

  • cruiseyman

I’m so pleased this story was picked up on here because I have been fuming ever since that stupid, self entitled bitch opened her mouth on the news last night. How fucking DARE she say that she should be given a bigger house because she is choosing to add to her already large family. I have one child and am holding off giving him a sibling until we can purchase our own home but being self employed makes it difficult. We are currently renting a shitty, tiny, earthquake damaged old house in chch and I hate that my baby is living here but I am doing my best to make it safe for him but as it is difficult enough trying to baby proof it for one child, I would never have another while we live here. Why can she not make the same decision? Why do I have to pay for her to have something that I can’t?

    • GregM

Good on ya cruiseyman. You will be fine in the long term, you are clearly a good bastard. Families like yours are what’s keeping this fucked up country going, not losers with inbred entitlement like this woman. Hang in there, and thanks mate. G.

    • Ian

Responsible people like yourself are those that Labour punish by greasing to breeders, as in the story. Time all these rabbits (they breed like them) were sterilised, why should hard-working people be penalised to keep these bludgers; no matter what they get, they want more. Arseholes like Campbell and Tv1 should be held up to ransom over these pro-left stories of shit. Just for satisfaction, our company has been running Mazdas for a number of years and it is time to update; will take great pleasure in telling the company we are now taking Hyundais, they don’t support left-wing scum like Tv3’s Campbell.

  • jedmo

Stupid formulaic TV item, same as they come out with at every budget. I’m living in some parallel universe where you are stupid to think you have to earn stuff not get it handed to you on a plate in response to doing a “Poor me gimme gimme”. But thanks to interactive blog, it turns out there are a few others around who don’t hold with this peurile tv pap and the handout mentality it tries to portray as normal and acceptable.

  • Foreigner

I live in a small 2 bedroom house with my wife and 2 kids, which, will be mortgage free in another 4 years or so. We don’t (can’t afford) sky. Our TV is tiny comparing to theirs, and don’t even own a decent stereo system (only a small compact micro stereo), and I not for 1 second consider myself in poverty. My be I am in poverty, but no one bordered to tell me? Where do I sign up for a bigger house?

  • annon.

I found this site while searching for this story after being told about it and I am shocked to see someone put my thoughts into text…! Sadly I grew up with this girl, went to school with her and was close friends with her as a child….. Im a little disgusted at her for moaning about such things on the news when there are plenty of others in the same boat but deal with it. Im sorry but with a second set of twins on the way (and a family history of twins) its time to go see a doctor and have your tubes tied if you can not afford to have 8 kids. BUT I dont feel sorry for people who can afford to booze it up and smoke and have expensive appliances and labelled clothing etc. Stop relying on the govt to get you buy in life, they arent the ones who got you pregnant!! Calling other mothers bad parents and saying they should be killed the same way their babies were when they have died from natural causes and buried or disposed off the same way they were is repulsive. Grow up and do something for yourself and your kids..! Stop moaning trying to get sympathy from the country for your own doings. You planned to have a large family then you should of planned in advanced to get a bigger house to accommodate for them likewise with vehicles too!
