David Shearer and Russel Normans $14 billion Budget blowout

Labour and Greens have been leaking their 2013 budget over the last 12 months.

Owl’s Observation

Affordable homes $3.5 billion
Andrew Little raid on ACC Fund to pay for Christchurch $3 billion
Greens printing money $3.5 billion
NZ power company raid on super profits $4 billion
Total: $14 billion.

That’s $3,000.00 per person. No wonder David Parker the finance spokesman for Labour and Greens said he wasn’t going to comment on tomorrow’s budget because he can’t work out how he was going to tell taxpayers that taxes need to go up 10 cents in the dollar.

I guess he kept his paper and pen in his top drawer and closing it slowly while muttering….£€^%#<~}. Maybe Russel will be better?

Add to that the massive cost of extending “Working for Families” to include beneficiaries. Oh, and the cost incurred by repealing the “three strikes” law, thereby both leaving crims where they are (instead of jailing them) and also releasing crims back into the community to wreak more havoc.
    Bloody leftwing idiots.

    • and feeding programs in schools.

      • Phill

        and extended paid parental leave….

    • spollyike

Every night they dream of their UTOPIA.

      • thor42

        If I could mark you up 20, I would, spollyike….. :)

    • unitedtribes

      Absolutely unsatisfactory

  • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Print more money I say!! That is so simple.

    • Grizz30

I am dusting off my wheelbarrow as you speak, getting ready to load it up with stacks of Rutherfords.

  • Ian

Why do Fairfax, the print media branch of NZLP, continually quote the failed businessman Parker on fiscal matters? He is a loser, being unable to run a small enterprise successfully in good trading times. Add to this, he misled the House over the ruination of his, at the time, business partner; he is nothing but a charlatan. Further it makes reason why Fairfax are in the pooh, if the best they can do is push the barrow for this creep, who took off with his so-called stroke-ridden mate’s wife.

    • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Fairfax, the perennial losers think Barking Parker will be the Assistant Finance Minister (who does real work, while the Finance Minister Norman loads ink in the money printing machines). Wait for this creature to come out of the sewer tank to attack the budget tomorrow morning.

    • dumbshit

just a thought maybe fairfax might get the job of printing wanker normans billions, there will be plenty of spare capacity

      • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

That is a possibility. May be they can use their newsprint quota to print the money.

    • AnonWgtn

Parker is only keeping the seat warm for Wussel.
Both as useless as each other actually.

  • Grizz30

    Wheelbarrow economics straight from BERL.

    • AnonWgtn

I was personally connected with the Founder (ex Reserve Bank Economist) of BERL in Wellington.
I think he would be very disappointed to see what he started.

  • Sarrs

Talking about taxes…this tool from stuff is quite cool. http://www.stuff.co.nz/data/8681049/Tax-o-meter-interactive

Interesting to see that at $50kpa your daily tax contribution is $21.97 but at $100kpa it’s over $65. Doubling your income triples your tax. Some needs to show this to Shearer so he can stop complaining about high income earners not paying enough tax. (To me, $100kpa is a high income)

    • Kebq

You know the average income in northland is 18k don’t you?

      • Phill

so get educated…listen in school kids…make wise choices….break the cycle….dont be left on $18K like mum and dad….work hard to make a better life for yourselves….
no-one is “entitled” to anything in this world and “fair” is what you pay to ride the bus…

        • thor42

          Exactly!
It’s a big-bad world out there, and there are NO guarantees. What any sensible person will do is to try to tip the odds in their favour by **getting a good education**, working hard and **not having six kids before you’re out of your teens.**

        • Kebq

No matter what someone does there will always be someone else that gets 18k b/c that is what they pay. One day the guy with a 120k debt for a phd will only get 18k if we all have phd’s

The world is whatever we choose to make it, it isn’t determined by magical beings.

          • thor42

“The world is whatever we choose to make it.”
            Very true!
We can choose to moan and groan (which doesn’t solve anything), or we can choose to work hard and see how that turns out.

** We have the power to make our OWN destinies. **

Again – no guarantees, but working hard *almost always* pays off in the end.

          • Kebq

Every way, at the end you are dead and what it was to you is worthless. Yet, we prefer to live selfish life’s like it means something.

      • Grizz30

Which begs the question why orchards and growers have to import labour if the idle hands are there.

        • AnonWgtn

As a former orchardist who also worked the packhouse the only reliable workers available are from overseas, as the local labour force were sent from Winz – two days on (max), then deliberate production line stuff up, so get cards, and back to Winz.

Work an 8 hour shift – you must be joking, although they were replenished by a “sister” who delivers stuff at lunchtime so they are stoned during the afternoon, and dangerous in a rapid production line.

      • In Vino Veritas

That Kebq is a direct result of a chunk of the labour force being unemployed. Labour is mobile, if some of the unemployed went down to ChCh, the average wage would go up. A lot.

      • Bafacu

Yes, but that’s before the “cash trade” kicks in.

    • In Vino Veritas

Sarrs, the top 11% of earners (>$80K) pay 49% of the income tax collect. I’d say that is more than their fair share. Sheesh.

      • Sarrs

I hear ya. I am just so sick of hearing how upper-middle class NZ has it so easy while everyone else is struggling. Yes, they earn more. They are also taxed at a higher rate. And are far less likely to receive tax payer assistance like WFF. Why are people punished for earning money – if they pay their tax, leave them the hell alone.

    • meh

Fuck that was depressing seeing the actually daily amount that goes to the govt in paye… but I’m probably considered a rich prick who should be paying more..

  • Kebq

And 270,000 children go to bed hungry tonight. I am so proud of this

    • Travis Poulson

While they go to bed hungry, their parents are pissing up and smoking up their taxpayer funded habits. I am so proud of this.

      • Kebq

Really? What ever allows you to sleep at night I guess.. That is a proven myth so let it go.

        • Travis Poulson

Since it is a proven myth, evidence please.

          • Kebq

Ring Kids Can… They were on the news today. Thanks

          • thor42

Oh yeah – that’s the outfit that hands out shoes and raincoats and so on.

          • Kebq

We are always dependent on others and I can not see any reason why this is an ‘evil’. I mean, you want people to have dependency on people like you. A person who seems to have very low moral standards. So u want people to depend on a mystic system call capitalism that has no moral or ethics, or depend on the state. Either way, there is dependency. Funny that since we are social beings.

But ya right it is sad to see that we have to help others with is dirty clothes. Wow, we are a success even those who care can’t do it. How do we sleep at night?

          • thor42

“…you want people to have dependency on people like you..”

          • Travis Poulson

            “Ring Kids Can”

            Not acceptable. You failed.

        • Phill
    • thor42

No-one is holding a gun to the head of the “parents” of these children, making them go down to the pub or TAB.

      • Kebq

I never said that welfare will fix anything. You made that up. That was an interesting article though, had merit.

The rest of your post lacks merit. Most I will ignore b/c the morality of ur comments is about you as a person not the average family.

It is obvious that you need to vote for Winston Peters b/c u seem to have imagration issues. Obviously these people are stealing everyone’s jobs. Also let me know of your plan on how to get 50% of the northland pop to Chch. Where ya going to house them? And their kids r not at school? I thought that education was required for wealth? But I bet u must love having cheap labour with no work visas and children as slave labour. I mean your ideal is exploitive. It looks like u want to move people away for state slavery to your own slavery system. If only these people worked 7 days a week and for a dollar a day…an interesting plan you have. I am pretty sure that we have tried slavery before. It is obviously that capitalism has failed.

I heard that we have 1000’s of people on welfare and you know most of them? Cool, u must great parties at ur place.

        • Hazards001

Wrong forum if you want to text talk best you go back to the standard. I lost interest in your comments when I realised you are just another one of the self serving lazy indolent hopeless turnouts that Labour has encouraged to breed in the last 30 odd years or so.
I suppose the back of the cuff of your jeans is worn out due to the fact that you’re to stupid to wear them properly and that you walk in a shuffle can’t lift your feet and have the gait of a man 40 years older than you.Hats probably on ass backwards as well.

          Go away.

        • thor42

          Capitalism has failed? Really?
Tell the people of Greece that you are from New Zealand. They would KILL to get in here, to our “evil capitalist” country.

If capitalism has “failed”, then why are so many people wanting to get IN to capitalist countries?
          Answer THAT for me.

        • Muffin

That’s easy to get them to move, move to the work or your benefit gets cancelled. Done. Sure the army has methods for housing people quick.

    • manuka416

Are you serious? 270,000 kids hungry tonight? You can’t be that naive. Here’s some education for you:

This is how child poverty is measured in NZ: if you are a child living in a
household that receives < 60% of the median NZ household income, then
you are in poverty. The median household income is currently $67,000.
So any child that lives in a household with an income of less than
$40,200 per year ($773 per week) is defined as being in poverty.

Internationally, the standard used for measuring poverty is 50% of the median income. UNICEF's 2012 report card on poverty placed NZ in 20th place in a table of 35 countries, with 11.7% of children in poverty. This is slightly behind Australia's 10.9%, but ahead of countries like the UK, Japan, USA, and Canada.

This poverty measurement, < 60% of the median household income, is
what the media and politicians use when talking about child poverty.
Because child poverty is measured this way, the only way to reduce child
poverty in New Zealand is to bring everyone's household incomes closer
to the median. I.e. reduce the income of the "wealthy" and increase the
income of the "poor" (there are numerous ways to do this, e.g.
taxation). If every household earned $100,000 per year, there would be
no child poverty. Also, if every household and $10,000 per year, there
      would be no child poverty.

      Got it?

      • Kebq

        Yeah I said 270,000
        http://tvnz.co.nz/politics-news/2-billion-overhaul-needed-fight-child-poverty-report-5278844

More kids in poverty in NZ than oZ and u call this ‘behind’ Aussie. Funny.

I like ur math, is that 773 before or after tax? What about student loan? What happens if that family had twins? I mean ur end statement shows the the figures and methodology is not the correct measure of poverty, I so get that.

Hence u better read the report stated in the link and try so reality, not theory.

        • Tom

You don’t ‘do’ sums, do you? Have another buckie…

        • Grizz30

If a household with 2 kids is earning 40,000pa, chances are they get more in WFF than they pay in tax.

        • manuka416

If you are in a worse position than another, you are ‘behind’. Pretty simple.

If you had enough sense, you could answer your own questions. Go and learn about taxation, WFF, student loans, etc.

For the past 7 years I’ve been a volunteer on the front-line of poverty – helping families who’ve struggled with providing food, housing, health, clothes, etc. That’s my reality.

Your reality? You’re just a parrot of poverty propaganda.

          • Guest2

I admire what you do – well done – I think the Owl was stating that if Labour and Greens did all their budget wishes as above taxes would increase – so where is the benefit?

          • manuka416

Thanks. Can’t see any benefits myself, but I don’t support Labour or the Greens. Labour lost their way a long time ago, and the Greens have always been nuts. The current pragmatic, sensible, responsible government is just my flavour.

We absolutely have a poverty problem. It’s not new. We have to continually address it, and the way to do it is with very good social services, education, and opportunity – not by doling out money and/or creating dependency.

    • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Yeah great Kebq bro. Let us tax the rich pricks and give the money to the dole bludgers who have money to buy booze and ciggies, but cannot feed their children. There was a lady with 8 children on TV complaining today that she can’t change houses and won’t have enough money to live.

      (a) Why breed 8 children if you can’t feed them?
      (b) Where is (are) the father(s)?

There is something called personal responsibility. I don’t think you can even spell that you left wing nonsense.

      • Kebq

If ya worried about the price of booze and cigs then take the tax off it. But whatever that rhetoric is getting thinner than an African child. Boring propaganda.

        B) ask her, he could have died working for minimal wage
        C) where is humanity?
        D) why do people hate the poor who are the most powerless.
        E) why can’t some with the ability help them?

I have been on this site for a few hours and all I see is immoral, unethical racists who bitch, moan and whinge. Ever looked in the mirror lately?

        • thor42

          Who is “bitching and moaning”?

          • Kebq

Lol, u don’t even read or understand ur own posts…

Thank god the cricket is about to start.

          • thor42

You are the one doing the bitching and moaning. All WE have done is point out the complete lunacy of left-wing policies.

        • owl

Who is going to pay for these 14 billion dollar pipe dreams? In one more year we will be back in surplus. Fantastic and I haven’t seen one kid die of poverty yet. I have seen a lot of parents kill children. Poverty hasn’t killed anyone in new Zealand yet.

          • Kebq

If u have seen a lot of parents kill children then why haven’t u stopped them?

According to the UN 2.5 children die of poverty a week. Look it up.

          • owl

How many in new Zealand? That is my question to you. Never said I have seen parents killed kids..parents or adults hurts kids..very sad.

      • AnonWgtn

I would love to know true statistics on
        a) how many solo mothers there are ?
        and
        b) how many children they have ?
Does any know if these are available please.

    • AXjarv

There are approx 850,000 children under 15 in the country.
Your claim that a third of them will go to bed tonight hungry is simply not credible.

  • thor42

The dickhead left-wingers have learned NOTHING from the dire financial situation in Greece and several other countries in Europe.

If you throw money around like confetti, there will eventually come a day of reckoning for your foolishness.

I believe that it should be *compulsory* for all governments here to run a balanced budget.
The fact that Labour and the Greens would never agree to that exposes them as the spendthrifts that they are.

    • Travis Poulson

The dickhead left-wingers have learned NOTHING from the dire financial situation in Greece and several other countries in Europe.

You mean, they have learned nothing since the last time they were in Government.

  • I m really pissed off, what happen to chasing up Goff, the little spitting retard??????

  • Troy

Norman and Shearer are complete dumbfucks. Key roasted both of them in the budget debate… Shearer’s contribution shows how much of a soft cock he is when it comes to economic policy. As for Norman, I won’t waste my words – just a dumbfuck.

  • sarah

It made me laugh how they were going on the average wage in Northland and Campbell Live did a piece on Kaikohe. Heres an idea get it together and move to a place that has employment and stop your bloody complaining I can say this because I was from Kaikohe and I moved for a better life and now earning in excess of 100K. Didnt sit on my ass expecting every man and his dog to give me handouts
