Obama is the best gun salesman in the world

Barack Obama has done more than any other person in the world to rescue US arms manufacturers. Good on ya Barack, NRA membership is surging.

Leaders of the National Rifle Association announced that its membership has surged to a record five million, a figure they aim to double in the “long war” to preserve gun ownership in America.

The organisation’s executive vice president and public face Wayne LaPierre told its annual convention that proposed legislation to introduce expanded background checks had “got the defeat it deserved” last month.

Mr LaPierre told members the fight over background checks had been “but one skirmish in what can only be defined as one long war against our Constitutional rights,” and that the NRA was in a “once in a generation fight for everything we care about.”

He said: “We have the chance to secure our freedom for a generation or lose it forever. So we don’t care if it is round one, round two or round 15, the NRA will go the distance. We will never give up or sacrifice our Constitutional freedom. Not one single inch. We will never surrender our guns. By the time we’re finished, the NRA must and will be 10 million strong.”

He also claimed the Boston Marathon bombings last month “proved” the need for more Americans to be armed, saying: “Frightened citizens sheltered in place with no means to defend themselves. How many Bostonians wish they had a gun two weeks ago? How many other Americans now ponder that life or death question?

“Lying in wait right now is a terrorist, a deranged school shooter, a kidnapper, a rapist, a murderer waiting and planning and plotting in every community across our country, lying in wait right now.”

The controversial television and radio host Glenn Beck told NRA members at a “Stand and Fight Rally” that the “freedom of all mankind is at stake.”
